Cardinal George Pell, the most senior cardinal in Australia, has been charged with offences related to historical sexual abuse allegations.
It is unclear what allegations the charges announced Thursday relate to, but two men, now in their 40s, have said that Pell touched them inappropriately at a swimming pool in the late 1970s, when Pell was a senior priest in Melbourne.
How anyone takes an organization that systematically covered up kiddie fucking for decades (that we know about; probably more like centuries), and elected as its leader the guy who wrote the memo ordering its clergy to hide said behaviour from the civilian authorities until such time as the statute of limitations had expired, and shuffled pedophiles around from place to place to evade the law, seriously when they speak on any moral issue is beyond me.
