I'm afraid I haven't seen much of the intermediary seasons so it'd be a bit odd to try to come back in when House MD is going to be...

As for the DBZ debate... it was good up until the Android and Cell saga (especially after Goku was killed against Cell). You could tell Toriyama had just completely lost any desire to continue but he was literally being forced to do so. If you never liked DBZ in the first place then you can't and won't see it. But it's there if you know Toriyama.

Also, Family Guy should have stayed canceled. American Dad is under-appreciated and has better jokes.

Family Guy is a shitstain on the world of animation. I prefer King of the Hill.

A lot of The Walking Dead fans were crying foul this season because of the first half and the Sophia arc.

(click to show/hide)

I didn't agree. I thought it was the humanity of this first half of the season that made me believe it. Daryl going from racist, drugged up, redneck, squirrel chaser to Warrior Poet is a great example of the best. Shane's slow descent into madness and survival of the fittest attitude shows some of the worst (YMMV).

The Jewish episode from the first run was pretty good. Other than that South Park got it right.

Matthew 22:39 "And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." God's own "don't be a dick" rule.

Lithp and Vene really need to have some kind of confusing sexual encounter where Vene spends the entire session lovingly insulting Lithp's technique, then cums on his face, ruffles his hair, says, "You're all right, kid!", and then punches him in the nuts.

Mixed feelings, but Chuck's series finale could qualify.

Human Target, a rather short lived show that was awesome all around, but never made it past 2 short seasons.

Dragon Age: Origins, ruined by Dragon Age II with its hyperactive and brainless combat, where the game always just throws a second wave of enemies at you, until the fights are either ludicrously easy or ludicrously hard, and I always have to reload and adjust the difficulty because I either failed or felt insulted, as well the unflexible and restricting dialogue wheel, which makes actual roleplaying next to impossible.

(This thread by people ninjaing me twice.)
That said, I've stopped trying to anticipate what people around here want a while ago, I've found it makes things smoother.

40K is sailing really close to this:  Having Matt Ward doing various codexes was mistake right from the start, but letting him loose on the Ultramarines and ending up with a situation where any Space Marine chapter you want to create has to basically be a mirror of Ward's own army is as ridiculous as most conspiracy theories, made worse by the fact that Ward wants every army to basically be about hand-to-hand combat, so if you want your marines to use artillery you've had it.

What he did to the Sisters of Battle was equally loathsome - stripping them of their allies was bad enough, but including fluff where the Sisters can't fight a battle without men to help them and when they do, ending up being killed in pretty graphic ways pretty much ruined a great army.

How the hell Matt Ward keeps his job when some of the best people at GW (Including Rick Priestley, who wrote the original 40K) have left is beyond me.

I was mostly--partially--joking about the DBZ thing, but I know of at least 3 different "Intended End Points" that fans have named: After Frieza, after Cell, & after Buu. Frankly, I'm not believing any of them until I see a Word of God. The series was no stranger to dramatic genre shifts, asspulls, & poorly placed comic relief before the Buu & Cell sagas, so that doesn't prove anything to me. And I liked DBZ just like every other 14-year-old.

=================================================

Oh, thanks Sleepy, I'd forgotten about Spyro. I'm going to be generous & say after Enter the Dragonfly, as well. It was pretty much dead after the original trilogy, but I think it COULD have made a comeback, albeit with difficulty, before they said, "Fuck it, gritty reboot." At that point, I stopped caring, because that's not what Spyro was about. However, Ripto actually did come back previously, in one of the GA games. Of course, I would have preferred the Sorceress or Gnasty Gnorc if they felt they HAD to bring someone back. I actually liked the breaths, it was pretty much the game's only saving grace.

On a similar note, .hack. You want to reboot the series into a darker, more steampunk setting? Fine. Go for it. Hell, I might even enjoy it. What I don't enjoy is Shooting the Shaggy Dog to make it happen. What the Hell? What was the point of those 4 games, 4 OVAs, 1 anime, a manga, & assloads of background material? For Aura to just fuck off & return everything to Square 1?

I think Frieza would have been a good "final boss," but the way that fight was actually handled was pretty black blah. The actual end of the Cell Saga felt like a pretty good end point.

Huh, so it did. I may have the first seven seasons on DVD but I've only seen about half the episodes so far (Don't judge me, The Walking Dead director's cut is just so shiny and there are so many bonuses and all six episodes have commentary, and there's an option to watch the two hour pilot in gritty "Night of the living dead"esque black&white...). It's one of those shows you can still somewhat follow even if you've only seen every fourth episode.

I quite liked the ending. But then again it was in an episode that gave me a rendition of 'Take On Me' with orchestral accompaniment so frankly it had a free pass to do what it wanted.
