The mascot isn't new. They've been using it in Europe for a while now.

It's new in America.  I vaguely remember it from a business trip to Italy, but this is the first time I've really noticed it.

Yea, I remember seeing it a week or two ago in a spiderman costume. (The mascot was dressed as Spiderman, not me.)

I think if they had made the golden arches the eyes and left them fully open, it would've been less creepy.
