Well, these two aren't really comparable. I didn't even realize the graduation degree in a polytechnics school counts as a bachelor's degree. A bachelor's degree in a "normal" university can be done in two years, a degree in a polytechnics school takes four years. The degree from the polytechnics school is closer to a master's degree from a non-polytechnics university.

Except that it's not. It very definitely is a bachelor's degree and technically had I been employed as an engineer I could have completed the master's degree ("ylempi ammattikorkeakoulututkinto" in Finnish.)

The main point is that universities and universities in Finland are separate organizations that work differently and one of the groups worked very hard to make sure that the "Ammattikorkeakoulu" would never be seen as a "proper" university even though in English the two are the same. Granted that the two types of schools work very differently so it does make sense that the two should have different names.

I guess I underestimated the difference between "diplomi-insinööri" and "insinööri". Coming from the regular Uni background where a bachelor's degree is just the first, small step to a master's degree it looks like a third-level degree that gives an actual professional competence (at least in theory) is a much bigger accomplishment.

I am going to confuse you even further. I'm not even an "insinööri." I am a "Insinööri (AMK)" which has to be clarified so that I won't be confused with people who went to a real university.

This was posted on the main page late last month but it deserves to be enshrined here too because David Chase Taylor is one of the more special recurring guests over there:

He's going down that whole "I'm the messiah" route and I can only hope he gets the mental help he clearly needs.

When I got to the point where he assumed that the word "Messiah" is obviously based on modern English words I came to the conclusion that the rest this research is probably equally worthless.

Just once I'd like to see a fundie who has studied the languages and cultures of the Biblical era and therefore can base his theories (no matter how crackpot) on something other than... Uhh... "Romans from Greenland and the Swiss CIA?"

Have you seen the things either Patrick Scrivener or a very, very convincing imitator have written on the main page?

He believes Greenland is a secret flying castle, and that Vox Day is actually a disguised Roman Emperor-clone-thing.

I'm sorry what. I must be seeing that incorrectly.
"Politician" is the occupational equivalent of "Florida".

Airplanes don't exist.  Those things you see flying around are actually demons

Aah, the good old people-carrying daemons.  I'm sure Dante mentioned them in the Divine Comedy, somewhere...
