Second Life

Does anyone know anything about the website Second Life?  It looks like it might be interesting to try, and I was wondering if anyone else here used it, or could tell me more about it.

I was on it for years.  It's a 3D chat room, effectively, at this point.  Make your avatar into any fucking thing you want (no, I'm not kidding.  You name it, they've made it somewhere).  It's also a money sink.
There is light and darkness in the world, to be sure.  However, there's no harm to be had in walking in the shade or shadows.

But yeah.  Second Life has no goals, it's virtually a giant sandbox in which people fill with different stuff, it's possible to pretty much make anything(Yes, there's an Adult category.  Yes, it's riddled with porn.) given if you have money.  While signing up is free, everything will likely cost Linden unless it's free.  Linden is the currency in the game converted from real cash.  It's possible to convert Linden back to real cash and make a profit but the only realistic ways to do that is be very good at making things or strike lucky in the virtual real estate sink.

Personally, I've spent money on it but it can enjoyable to people just to look around at the things people have made, some are quite beautiful or bizzare.   Examples include, A recreation of Lovecraft's Innsmouth, and a neverending house

My whole reason for wanting to sign up was that there's a Zen temple on there where Buddhists can gather.  That's it.  So, at least if that's the goal, it might be fun.  But yeah, the rest is starting to sound kind of crappy.

Some stores will call themselves "free" stores while everything costs 1L.

People use Second Life when they lack a first life.

Despite knowing about indoctrination I thought it was a good idea to put a human Reaper near my office. Now I am a sentient husk :(.
