Ron Paul Proofread Newsletters

So it has been established that a series of obscene, racist and homophobic newsletters were mailed out to Ron Paul's supporters for decades. It has also been established that he, at one point, publicly defended these newsletters. Now, in a news story that will likely shock none of you, it has come to light that Ron Paul proofread and signed off on all his newsletters. Every one of them. That means every race-baiting comment, crackpot conspiracy theory and venomous anti-gay statement was approved by Ron Paul himself before it was distributed to his crazed, militia-loving followers.

If I remember correctly, he was also the only Representative who voted against a ban on lead in children's toys.

And actually, let's say for the sake of argument that Ron Paul isn't a racist, a homophobe, or a conspiracy nut. He still pandered to those people, he still made money off of hate and ignorance, and he still validated those beliefs in the minds of those who held them and read his letters. Which means, at best, Ron Paul is a cynical asshole who profits from human bigotry.
