Did the second boss of Persona 5; its amazing how Atlus managed to create people more despicable than Adachi.

Yeah, just wait until you get to Futaba. Atlus made one of the most depressing things I've seen in a game with her.

Yeah, and the one after that hits even harder. Atlus has villain-making down to a damned ART.

Persona 5 final time: 97 hours and 49 minutes.

I honestly can't think of another RPG I've put that much time into in a single play through.

You're getting pretty close to when the game introduces my favorite character. Who is also the most depressing character.

Ha, I figured as much.  Also, the party's overdue to receive it's Rise...if not in personality, then in function.

*Personally preferred Fuuka to Rise*

Fuuka was pretty cool, but I personally preferred diikhead.

I've not played P3, so I can't really judge either way.

I wasn't aware that support party members were normal for the series, having never played Persona 3 and playing so little of Persona 4 that I haven't even recruited Yukiko.

EDIT: Have started a new game of Persona 4 Golden. I can officially say... that I've recruited Yukiko.

You'll adore Futaba. And I admit it, the homeroom teacher is interesting. And have you guys noticed how much inspiration they took from the Arsene Lupin novels and stories?

Akira's Persona being Arsene is pretty on the nose there.

Also, yes, Futaba is great, but Jesus fuck everything around her is depressing.

The more I hear about that game series the less I want to play it. Sure, I understand that a lot of people like it. I understand that sad stories can have beauty in them. ...It's just that I have seen/read enough tragedies by Japanese manga/anime writers that I have reached my limit.
No matter what happens, no matter what my last words may end up being, I want everyone to claim that they were:
"If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."
Aww, you guys rock. :)  I feel the love... and the pitchforks and torches.  Tingly!

They're so gooooooood... And 4 is very bright and cheery most of the time. 3 is a bit dark, but its still mostly non tragic. Aside from

But 4 is almost all happiness. Even if it is about thwarting a serial killer.

Ultimately the story is optimistic. There is tragedy and depression involved, but it serves the purpose of showing how people can overcome these things (I've made a big deal about how everything surrounding Futaba is depressing, but all of that tragedy serves her character development). Persona 5 is about rejecting the path society expects you to take in favor of your own and, from what I've gathered (again, never played the first four games in the series and have only scratched the surface of P4), showing how companionship can save you is a recurring theme in the series.

But 4 is almost all happiness. Even if it is about thwarting a serial killer.

Thwarting a serial killer and fighting inner demons if the first 10 hours are anything to go on.
