An 18 year old accidentally shot himself in the head in because he was trying to show off his manhood on camera but didn't know that the gun he used was loaded:

Quote
BELIEVING he was handling an unloaded gun, an 18-year-old accidentally shot himself in the head during a webcam chat early Wednesday when the person on the other end of the conversation challenged the teen's manhood, police said.

To make matters worse, the teen's two brothers — one of whom is just 13 — were in the room when the shooting occurred, said East Detectives Capt. John Gallagher.

As of Wednesday night, the teen, whom police did not identify, was brain-dead and in extremely critical condition at Temple University Hospital.

Quote
About 1:15 a.m., the teen was video-chatting — police believe it was either over Skype or another video-chat service called ooVoo — with an as-yet-unidentified person while his brothers were asleep in the room in their Kensington house.

Sometime during the video chat, things went horribly wrong.

“His manhood or his ego was challenged and he said something along the lines of, ‘I’ll show you,’” Gallagher said. “He thought he was clowning around, trying to shock the other party on the Internet site.”

That’s when the teen picked up his older brother’s gun and, believing it was unloaded, put it to his head and pulled the trigger, police said.

I really dislike this perception that manliness equals reckless endangerment and disregard. It's something that our culture needs to change. I don't view that as masculine at all. My masculinity has nothing to do with putting myself or others in danger.
That may be the single gayest thing I have ever read on this board. Or the old one. ;)

I want to feel sorry for him... but... seriously, this is Darwin at work.  Dumbass couldn't click 'ignore'?
There is light and darkness in the world, to be sure.  However, there's no harm to be had in walking in the shade or shadows.

Why did the older brother let him have his gun? (Facepalm)

I dislike guns, I dislike the gun lobby, I dislike most people who claim they need a gun for self protection,

But I can't blame the gun, the lobby, or the owner for putting it against his head and pulling the trigger.

Don't play with guns, ever. It's just plain stupid.

Are we supposed to feel bad for this kid? Cuz I certainly don't.
Her3tik, you have groupies.

There are a number of ways, though my favourite is simply to take them by surprise. They're just walking down the street, minding their own business when suddenly, WHACK! Penis to the face.

Distind, my mother has a pistol specifically because my dad used to make a habit of showing up unannounced at wherever we happened to be living at the time. We were afraid, and simply letting him know we had it kept him from harassing us. >_>

Anyway, yep, Darwin Award awarded.

This definitely needs to be submitted to the Darwin Awards site. It's right up there with the "I wanted to see how close I could get my head to the train" guy.

Yeah, there's a reason I say most, and claim. Those who really do, well, I'd love to find a real way to resolve the problem, but I do accept there are times it's a valid concern. It's just a rather rare reality compared to how often it's claimed.

I've done some amazingly stupid things. Holding a gun to my head and pulling the trigger is not among them.  I attribute this to a good education.
I am an old man, and I've seen many problems, most of which never happened.

Well, he manned so hard his head exploded. So I guess that counts as a win?
