So some anti-choicer came out and basically told us why there are so many attacks on Planned Parenthood.  It has never been about abortions but regulating women's sexuality.  In other news, water is wet, sky is blue, the bears shitting in the wood index is pretty damn high and the Pope is still Catholic.

Quote
It is not very often, if ever, that Republicans, or any of their conservative cohort, tell the truth; it just is not a part of their character. However, for some mysterious reason a few of them are abandoning their penchant for mendacity as of late. First it was House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) coming clean about the Benghazi Select Committee illegally using taxpayer money for the RNC’s 2016 presidential campaign against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Then it was the typical lying Mormon Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) being honest and confessing that he could find no wrongdoing by Planned Parenthood despite a very thorough and comprehensive investigation. Now, unbelievably, an anti-choice activist was honest in boasting that the attacks on Planned Parenthood, and women’s reproductive rights in general, have absolutely nothing to do with abortion and everything to do with controlling when women have sexual relations; something evangelicals and Catholics consider a mortal sin unless it is in servitude to a man or to produce offspring.

When Republicans and their evangelical base were desperate to restrict women’s access to any form of birth control, one of the complaints was that just the idea of a woman, married or not, having “consequence free sex” was an abomination that religious Republicans would not allow or condone. In their minds there has to be a severe, usually an 18 year and nine month, “consequence” for any woman who has sexual relations; even when their “man” demands being serviced” and the woman is ill. Now, a representative of one of the anti-choice cabals planning to harass Planned Parenthood clinics around the nation this weekend has admitted that the crusade against Planned Parenthood is a purely religious assault founded on ending the corrupt sexual ethic of promoting sex not intended for procreation.

The spokeswoman for Citizens for a Pro-Life Society explained why evangelicals, the personhood movement, anti-choice fascists, Catholic bishops, and their Republican facilitators are so intent on destroying Planned Parenthood, and it is not about banning abortion or protecting zygotes and fetuses. Monica Miller is one of this weekend’s ‘harass Planned Parenthood” rally organizers who was honest and angry when she said, “Planned Parenthood from the top to the bottom is a corrupt organization… corrupt in its view of the sanctity of life and corrupt in its view of human sexuality. I say even if Planned Parenthood didn’t perform one single abortion, just the mere fact that its sexual ethic is corrupted means right there, should be the reason right there, that they should not receive any federal money. The kind of sexual ethic that Planned Parenthood promotes is sex for recreation, sex for mere pleasure.”

The words "no", "shit" and "Sherlock" come to mind as a response to this article but it goes beyond that here in America.  We have a big problem with sex.  Not just women's sexuality, but sexuality in general just ooks us right the fuck out.  For whatever reason, the though of two people engaging in what is probably the most intimate thing you can do with a partner just freaks people the fuck out.  So they do everything they can to make their particular brand of morality law in an effort to shame people.  And that's sad.  Really sad.  Sex isn't something that should be done for the sake of kids.  Sex is just sex.  A way for two partners to say, "hey I love you and want to get it on as nakedly as possible."  But these lunatics are dangerous.  But we knew that.  We always knew that.  And the fact that it's taken people this long to realize that scares me a bit.

Ironbite-I really don't want to live in a world where sex and sexuality are punished by morality police.  We are not Saudi Arabia and we really shouldn't aspire to be.

Of course you have a problem when people flip their shit over two adults in bed, but they have no problem with someone getting their brains blown out with guns on TV.

Wait, an anti-choicer told the truth? They actually, purposefully agreed with their ideological opponents? I see it but I can't believe it.

...I actually did think that they were simply rabid "pro-life" / anti-abortion fanatics but in retrospect this should not have been such a surprise.
No matter what happens, no matter what my last words may end up being, I want everyone to claim that they were:
"If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."
Aww, you guys rock. :)  I feel the love... and the pitchforks and torches.  Tingly!

i'm asking "askold the mod". am i allowed to make disparaging comments about their looks, wives, and general sexuality (specifically, lack of)?

because only the most sexually frustrated inbred would actually bomb a place from not getting laid.

... no offense to inbreds.

Really interesting considering what I hear on the other side of the fence before quickly becoming deaf/numb to the rhetoric.
And when we're done soul searching,
And we carry the weight and die for a cause.
Is misery made beautiful
Right before our eyes.

Mercy be revealed, or blind us where we stand?

Well, those Puritans predate the official (secular/ Deist/ Freemason/Age of Reason) founders. But I kind of understand your point, regardless.

Also, concerning what this frum in the article said.....

In your rush to disparage people you don't like by lumping them in with other members of the outgroup such as those unfortunate enough to be physically unattractive or sexually deviant, you might have missed the point of institutional sexism.

The people that perpetuate this are well-respected members of their community. Often times society is at fault for reinforcing a poisonous culture, not just a few bad apples acting out.
Consumption is not a politically combative act — refraining from consumption even less so.

i can get that my comment was coarse, but i simply don't get what you're getting at. what does institutional sexism have to do with my comment? is it sexist to say "somebody needs to get laid"? also, i didn't call them sexually deviant (that's the problem, if they were a bit more open sexually, there might not be this kind of idiocy happening). besides, if the anti-choice are allowed to call women sluts for having a sex drive, i feel it's polite to respond in the same immature way, namely by devolving to the rhetoric of a seventh grader.
i think you're talking about moral conservatism in the second part, and in which case, yes, it is poisonous, and should be fought by making society evolve away from archaic modes of thought.

It feels a bit like something a bully would say; a reinforcement of the societal expectations that people who aren't having enough sex have something profoundly wrong with them -- but that wasn't the point I was getting at. When I said "institutional sexism", I was referring to the communities these anti-choice groups live in. I am not convinced there's anything wrong with the sex lives of the major peddlers of this misogyny; quite the opposite, actually, given the track record religious leaders have of dominating women in their congregation.

I guess what I'm saying is that the tribalistic knee-jerk reaction of assuming there's something deeply wrong with these individuals is a big smokescreen. They're probably perfectly healthy people doing what people do in a deeply misogynistic culture, which is finding out new and inventive ways to subjugate women.
