China One Child Policy on Last Legs

So I recently read a BBC article about China laxing the one child policy for parents who were only childs. A quote from the article sums it up

The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress passed a resolution allowing couples to have two children if either parent is an only child.

A proposal to abolish re-education through labour camps was also approved.

The changes in policy were announced following a meeting of top Communist Party officials in November.

So it seems that the policy is pretty much nearly dead.

It's really too bad that we don't have better methods of population control.

Here's hoping we have the ingenuity to achieve negative population growth by the end of this century; it will happen anyway, but preferably without the whole mass starvation thing...
