He is the highest ranked catholic priest who has been punished for abusing kids so far. And even though he has not yet been to a court the vatican is going to put him on a tribunal and if they judge him quilty he will be sent to Dominican republic to face a court there.

Even though the vatican and the pope have been rather slow on punishing child abusers in Catholic church this case is important because:

John Paul II wasn't a good judge of character, was he? At least this creep's losing his job and is getting prosecuted.

Let me know when accused church members are forced to stand trial before the judicial system of the country in question. It sounds like they can still weasel their way out of this with the Vatican-held tribunal.
