I'm virulently pro-abortion, but I respect Hughes for her consistency, at least.
A lot of allegedly "pro-life" people will shout from the rooftops that abortion is murder, yet they'll make exceptions for rape (so it's okay to murder someone if they were conceived in an unpleasant way?), or insist on punishing the doctor and not the woman who chose to terminate her pregnancy (the equivalent of arresting the hitman and letting off the person who hired the hitman in the first place, if it's truly equivalent to murder).
I mean, it's still utterly retarded, but at least it's logical.

How... how can these people honestly look at a woman who was RAPED, and say that she needs to be punished for it? When and how did these.... things lose their empathy?

They lost their empathy because they have none. They don't look at the victim anymore because that would require thinking. If they stopped and thought, for only a second, that not every woman can see the bright side to a rape, that there is no bright side, they'd be able to not say these things. But they don't. Because to them, every life is sacred.

I disregarded my view that the presence of a brain should be a qualifying factor for the same reason.
Actually, it's funny, I think the quote that the articles & the OP choose to highlight is actually the least nonsensical & offensive part of her whole rant.

In their view, abortion is the same thing as murder. They're not punishing a woman, they're just preventing her from killing her child. I don't agree with it but I don't think all anti-abortion advocates believe what they do out of latent misogyny.
