WWII veteran Delbert Belton survived being wounded in action during the Battle of Okinawa only to be beaten and left for dead by two teens at the Eagles Lodge in Spokane on Wednesday evening.

This is just heartwrenching, to me. And I hope they catch the guys who did it.

Also let's be clear, people are already calling them thugs and I don't really agree with that. I agree they are responsible but let's not use what has been historically racist language when speaking of them. Just my opinion. Especially so fresh on the heels of the Trayvon case.

Also, at least one of them can't be sent to a juvenile detention. Which is all the better because they could see just how big and bad they are if they wind up in an adult prison. Which is to say, they really aren't.

I could be flippant and give a long list of how such things happen but I'll just say: it's a mix of nature and nurture.

As for rage virus, I don't think so. As has been mentioned plenty of times, it's a matter of information getting far and wide now that we have technology. And the hard-on that news people have with showing only the darker side of humanity rather than positive news.
