Gun fire at U.S. Capitol building

Quote
By Michael O'Brien, NBC News

The United States Capitol was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon after shots were fired in the vicinity of the chamber. At least one Capitol Police officer was injured, officials said

The FBI was responding to the scene, and a helicopter landed in front of the Capitol. A message from the Capitol Police ordered anyone in a House office to "shelter in place."

"Close, lock and stay away from external doors and windows," the message said.

Worrisome, but damned well not surprising, at all. :(

Hopefully no one was killed. I wonder if the shutdown sparked it.

No matter what happens, no matter what my last words may end up being, I want everyone to claim that they were:

Wow. A woman. You don't see that every day, even here in random mass shooting land. It's so good to know that apparently no one has died.

So the thought process was, "Well the government shut down so that means the President is unguarded.  Billy!  Get your things!  We're gonna go kill the black man in the White House and everyone will applaud me as a hero!"

Ironbite-I'm hearing she was shot though.

She was shot, but is reported as injured, not killed. Hopefully she will survive. I wonder how old the child in the car with her was? This is really phucked up, that she would take her child along on a deadly revenge tantrum.

Trying to make a little dark humor here, was she a stereotypical upper middle class soccer mom gone wrong? The vehicle is a black Infiniti, so she's not poor. That she tried first to bash through the gate at the White House makes me think, too, that she's a mentally ill tea asshat of some type, gunnin' for the ebil Kenyan Tyrant who lives there.

According to the newest reports she's deceased.

I surely hope we won't hear of more stories like this.

That's tragic, but the cops had to stop her, and she was using the car as a weapon, too. So fucking messed up, the whole thing.

Guys, this is getting creepy. Can we talk about cannibalism instead?

I've already heard people saying the Gun Free Zone is a failure in the area, but do we know if she was armed? I'm pretty sure the police were the ones who fired.

Just heard about this after my mom watched it on msnbc.com. I have to wonder if the shutdown has caused this woman to go over the tipping edge? My mom also speculates that there might be more to the story than what is being reported, perhaps something that is more personal with the woman (a relationship problem perhaps) I doubt it could be just that but something set off the crazy in this woman.

I also feel bad for the kid and like mellonORL I wonder what the age of the kid is.
