What kind of ref carries around a knife to begin with?
I don't know where you live, but around here it's pretty normal to carry a pocket knife. While not the blade of choice I'd go in to a fight with (That'd be my AK bayonet), you could conceivable kill someone with one on the larger end.
I myself carry a Kershaw Crown which has a 3 1/4 inch blade.
You live in a hellhole otherwise known as....Ohio. That's not much of a shock.
Oklahoma actually
Thank you.
I've never seen anyone use their knives violently. I' only ever see them being used as tools to do all the things normally associated with a knife (cutting and poking things) and sometimes more unusual things. It's the same just about everywhere I've been.
I'm probably more unusual in that I have a rather sizable collection of knives. Over time they've found their way around the house from me leaving the on tables, forgetting, and then it getting put in the table's drawer, so now I'm usually within five feet of a knife. Most of them are smaller folders, but I do have a couple large bowie knives I bought recently at a garage sale that are just a little shy of short swords.
Here's a couple things worth reading about knives.
"Why every man should carry a knife." This is from the site Art of Manliness. I'd add that every woman should also have a pocket knife. Hell, that's one more reason for us guys to be jealous of those purses. We got fit it all in our pockets. If I had a purse it'd be like a small cutlery shop in there.
Uses for knives other than the obvious. I love tip number 7, the one about the key rings. After reading that a while back I've got a lot of use out of it. Being that I live on a car lot I deal with key rings fairly regularly, and car keys are even more of a pain to get on a ring that other keys because they're usually bigger.
