Atheists and so-called "non-religious" people residing in christian countries are always very vocal and very keen to destroy the foundations of that society, I have noticed. In what way have you noticed this? And in what "Christian countries"?
Despite the liberties granted to them magnanimously by Christian society, they nevertheless refuse to reciprocate this kindness and instead seek laws and conventions designed to limit the rights of believers to practice their faith freely. This depends on what society you're even talking about. Start out by picking a so-called "Christian society" and go from there.
Atheism produces nothing but demands everything, a comparatively TINY minority of Atheists think it right that a majority christian nation conforms entirely to an Atheistic way of doing things, all the while refusing to acknowledge that all of the freedoms they enjoy and abuse stem from the faith they hate so much. Can you come up with any examples of a "TINY minority of Atheists" trying to force a majority Christian nation to conform to "an Atheistic way of doing things"? Or a society that, because of a prevailing disbelief in god(s), is an "authoritarian horror and a police state"? Honestly all I see are vague assertions and crass generalizations.
An Atheistic society is an authoritarian horror and a police state, and yet this is what the Atheist movement would have us emulate. This MUST NOT be allowed to happen.
A few quick notes, the US isn't a christian country.
We've got a lot of christians, they've been influential throughout it's history, but none of them have managed anything beyond adding god into the pledge and onto currency.
Which amusingly could make your religion itself American. Even if the country itself doesn't particularly care.

I wasn't referring to America, nor am I even american.QuoteWe've got a lot of christians, they've been influential throughout it's history, but none of them have managed anything beyond adding god into the pledge and onto currency.
So you're saying that all of the great minds that contributed to America's social, economic and military success since 1776 have all been Atheists and all christians have done in that time is put up monuments? That's a very twisted view of your history...
watQuoteWhich amusingly could make your religion itself American. Even if the country itself doesn't particularly care.
The Church of England is an American religion now? Have you torn up the declaration of independance while I wasn't looking?

Case in point, The United Kingdom. Atheists and homosexuals have spent the last half century trying to force their social orthodoxy onto our national church.

Ironbite-I'll get my stick.
This is pretty amusing... for now.
Why am I imagining the mods as Roman Emperors? I can just see the gladiator arena in my head, with the mods acting as Caesar holding his thumb out. Their judgment will determine whether this thread lives or dies.

I get the feeling Atheism Exposed does the same thing, but with the bedsheets on his head.

It's true. Before we enter the mod room, we all put on our togas, or, if a toga is not available, we improvise with diaper pins and our bedsheets.

Get your disgusting perversions out of my church, this I demand!
Oh shit, he's got us there. We atheists (because everyone on this forum is totally an atheist) are all in league with one another, connected in a vast atheistic network. It doesn't matter if it's British politicians or people on a moderately attended forum, we're basically the Legion of Doom, conspiring to *gasp* advance human rights. So I'm glad that you told us, specifically, to get our "disgusting perversions" out of your church, because we totally have power over that. Hang on, I'm on the line with members of the Bilderberg group but I'll give David Cameron a ring in just a few, okay?I figured american because... well... most of the brits I know consider the COE a bit of a joke. The CofE is widely considered to be such because the Atheist cult has effectively used its political machinations to hamstring it over the last hundred years.
In days past it was a beacon of hope and morality, the truest form of christianity and the ONLY Christian social structure free of the strangling grip of the atheist-infused Catholic church.

Uh...
Catholicism is, by its very definition, not atheist.
Also, it is the very constituents of the Anglican Church that are calling for equality in the priesthood. Catholic Church has literally nothing to do with this -- especially since it's far FAR behind the Anglican Church socially anyways. (You won't see women in the priesthood, nor open homosexuals.)
Not to mention gay rights and women's rights are not 'atheist'. They're liberal. The two words are not synonymous, no matter how much you force them to be.
Look at yourself. Is this really what God wants you to do? The one who sent his very son to you?
You are wanting to turn the Anglican church into the Catholic Church minus the pope. Is that really what you want?
By the way, I'm not an atheist. I'm a (male) witch who is considering Wicca. Do you wish to burn me at the stake?
No Church that hopes to remain open to new members will ever be free from Antitheist infiltration.
If you had actually read my post you would see I am not likening my church to Catholicism but setting us apart.
The Vatican, over the last century, has opened itself up to Atheistic child molesters and Darwinists in an attempt to maintain its user base
in the face of Atheist social crusaders who demand these things be acceptable and that all churches be forced to conform.
I would really rather not see my church fall to that level...

Slavery, I think you'll realise, was abolished through the works of Great Christians in the 19th century.

or maybe the fact that they were Christian isn't important at allIt's only important in that part of Nazi reasoning was based on Christian anti-Semitism, and that AE's argument was that they were atheists.
Professing one's Christianity and living it are two very different things.
Also there is fairly convincing evidence that a lot of the writings purported to be Adolf Hitler are postwar fabrications. He lost the battle of the Atheist dictators against Stalin so naturally the Atheist movement would have been keen to disavow him as one of their own.

Professing one's Christianity and living it are two very different things.Though that puts you in the unfortunate "No True Scotsman" corner. The fact is, awful Christians exist. So do awful atheists (e.g. Stalin). Trying to blame all of history's problems on one group is intellectually lazy.

I never claimed that Catholics are Atheists. The Catholic church as an organisation, however, has a history of mutating itself to accept membership from all over the world, it was bound to grow to include some more pagan and atheistic elements eventually and the historical actions of the church would tend to confirm this

We can disagree on how much weight we give to religiosity being a motivating factor for the Nazis, along with racial purity, but we shouldn't merely ignore it and just say "Hitler was evil, the end."Professing one's Christianity and living it are two very different things.
Also there is fairly convincing evidence that a lot of the writings purported to be Adolf Hitler are postwar fabrications. He lost the battle of the Atheist dictators against Stalin so naturally the Atheist movement would have been keen to disavow him as one of their own.
Again, Hitler's religious views are COMPLETELY UNIMPORTANT. What he did was wrong because killing people is wrong. He could have been any faith, and his actions would still be wrong.or maybe the fact that they were Christian isn't important at allIt's only important in that part of Nazi reasoning was based on Christian anti-Semitism, and that AE's argument was that they were atheists.
I understand. I just want us to avoid attributing their actions to any faith. That's not a factor in it being evil.

Well let's put it to the test, shall we?
Contention 1: Islam is just Atheism in a funny costume. The inherent hatred of Christ is alive in both groups.
Contention 2: The Holocaust was in large part due to the Atheist hatred of Jews and Christians
If these are both true, the Atheist community would be steadfast in its support of Palestine and highly critical of western support of Israel.
Funny, that's exactly what we see, eh?
What are your opinions on people who have no intentions of ever getting married or having kids?
If they wish to maintain a celibate lifestyle, it's their choice. I cannot endorse any course of action which involves sexual activity outside the covenant of marriage, though.

So I'm a horrible person because I'm not married and I have sex with my boyfriend? I guess to your mind, that makes me a slut, even though I've never had sex with anybody but him. How does having a ring on your finger magically make it okay?

Now you're just being melodramatic. Although it does also appear you seem to have some awareness of the non-ideal nature of your behaviour, given your apparent hypersensitiveness to criticism of it. I'm not about to start calling you names, although I do disagree with the acceptability of premarital sex.
Muslims don't hate Jesus. He's highly praised in the Quran.
Most atheists don't hate Jesus either. Some think he didn't exist. Other think he was a good moral teacher, just not God.
Yes, the holocaust had a lot to do with hating Jews, but homosexuals (and atheists I think, but I'm not positive) were also rounded up, tortured, and killed. Christians were not. Hardly seems like the actions of an atheistic regime.
Not all atheists support Palestine. Some support Isreal. Others, like myself, think there is blame on both sides and think both sides need to knock it off and make some concessions.

This, this right here is Jack Chick-level stupid. The idea that atheists concocted a religion centuries ago to defeat another religion in order to eliminate all religion makes no sense no matter which way you slice it, kid.or maybe the fact that they were Christian isn't important at allIt's only important in that part of Nazi reasoning was based on Christian anti-Semitism, and that AE's argument was that they were atheists.

And therein lies the beauty of the whole arrangement. Atheists wish to destroy christianity by driving people from it. What better way to alienate people from a faith by creating a new group of violent primitive crazies and then declaring them to be related? It's a classic example of a false-flag operation.
Okay my last response was rushed because I had class, Rinella, but I just want to clarify my position so it's more understandable. The Nazi Holocaust was the end result of multiple factors, which included racial, religious and political scapegoating of the Jewish people. Europe for centuries had been subjected to vicious anti-Jewish pogroms which stemmed from Christian anti-Judaism--Jews were often blamed for murdering Jesus, desecrating the Host and drinking the blood of Christian children, for example. Having studied the Holocaust I believe this type of thinking certainly had an impact in Germany, especially among everyday Germans. That Germany was already suffering from a wartime defeat and economic crisis made people even more willing to believe these lies. The Nazis also fused these anti-Jewish charges with racial animosity, with their constant calls for the preservation of the Aryan race against the "inferior" Jewish people. In order to study this type of event, you have to look at its totality. For example, it would be wrongheaded, in my opinion, to blame the September 11th attacks solely on Islamic fundamentalism and not examine the political causes of the event (or vice versa). Leaving out these details makes it harder to put such events in proper context. I hope that makes more sense.
It's understandable because it's a really loaded topic--and Godwin's Law exists for a reason :)Okay my last response was rushed because I had class, Rinella, but I just want to clarify my position so it's more understandable.
Yeah, I see where you're coming from. I agree that we need to consider it a factor that allowed it to occur, and yes, to be honest, even partially motivated it. I just have a bit of a gut reaction to "Hitler was an X" discussions, probably born of knowing a few too many antitheists/fundies who like to say that the whole thing was because of his religious views. My bad.
or maybe the fact that they were Christian isn't important at allIt's only important in that part of Nazi reasoning was based on Christian anti-Semitism, and that AE's argument was that they were atheists.
"Go amongst those called Christians, for there you will always be welcome" The Quran. Now, if they were all atheists, why would they be directed to go amongst them? Come to that, why would Muslims say "Allah Akhbar" which means "God is great"?
And therein lies the beauty of the whole arrangement. Atheists wish to destroy christianity by driving people from it. What better way to alienate people from a faith by creating a new group of violent primitive crazies and then declaring them to be related? It's a classic example of a false-flag operation.

That has to be the stupidest pile of shite I've ever read. Can you prove this? Of course you can't, BECAUSE THERE IS NO FUCKING EVIDENCE OF THIS WHATSOEVER.
In fact, I'd like to hear your evidence, come on, cite some sources, show some proof or have a big cup of STFU.

This is Swiftian in its brilliance. I want in.Satan was an atheist, which makes his war against no one during Armageddon all the more befuddling.
Did you know that the Cannanites were Atheists as well? Ba'al was actually a god of nothing. Moloch was a god of abortion. That's why it was ok for the Israelites to fuck their shit up. Also the Amelkites had more partner swapping than Bonobos which is why it is ok to eradicate them.

I think you're onto something scotsgit. I think they probably did the same thing with Judaism. After all it's only aim is to distract people from the one true faith of Anglicanism. All hail Henry the VIII. Clearly the greatest of the prophets and the seal of the prophets.

It gets even better! Since everything that's not Christianity is atheism, and atheism is really satan worship, and satan worship acknowledges God and Jesus as it rebels against them...Um except Islam started 600 years after Christianity was started.

Of course, but it goes deeper. Atheists prophesized Christianity before it even existed and set up obstacles ahead of time. The prophesies had to come from somewhere -- God -- which makes the God of atheism the true god (until, upon being discovered, he disappeared in a puff of logic). Our troll is really an atheist trying to undermine the true religion, which is also why he projects so many of his own opinions and beliefs onto atheists...

The Nazi party was given practically unanimous power over Germany in 1933 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_federal_election,_March_1933). Who voted him into power? Atheists? It's pretty interesting to read some of his speeches (http://www.somareview.com/mostfamouschristian.cfm). I don't think a single atheist would elect someone who used that much Jesus speak.

Unskeptical skepticism always make me smile. It is in essence no different from things that were (and I guess still are) being said about the current US president. Professing a belief in christianity to aid your chances of election and actually being a christian are not the same thing.
You'd be wise not to take the words of politicians at face value.

And the Nazis' pogrom against the Jews had some Christian influences too. For example, the Church prohibited intermarrying between Jews and Christians and actually forced Jews to wear badges to distinguish themselves from non-Jews:Unskeptical skepticism always make me smile. Although you quoted me, used proper sentence structure and grammar, you actually failed to address anything I said. It was the Christian majority who voted Hitler into power. It was the Christian majority who blamed the Jews because the Jews managed to stay affluent while many around them struggled in poverty, and it was the Christian majority who gleefully seized their properties, trashed their businesses and loaded them up on trains and sent them off to camps when they could no longer deport them.
EDIT: I noticed that Katsuro also said the same thing.

Me too, though I personally had more brain cells die in the thread against heliocentrism. I mean, that shit was disputed plenty of centuries ago.
It's hard to say Hitlers beliefs but either way for examples of evil Christians. Look at the Croats and Serbians

I seriously doubt he was an atheist. ;)
Material Defender, I wasn't actually trying to single out Hitler, but the majority people who voted the Nazi Party into power were Christian, and it wasn't the stormtroopers who vandalized shops and accused their owners who were suspected of having Hebrew relatives.
He also formed alliances with Churches when it suited him, but that's all. I think he did have a very religious upbringing, so maybe that's something he hated growing up. Plus the Russian Orthodox Church was linked with the Tsarist government, so there were probably political reasons too.I mean seriously, out of people to call atheist... at least get it right? Try Stalin or something. Jesus Christ.
I seriously doubt he was an atheist. ;)
As far as I can tell, he was an anti-theist the way he brought his hammer down on the Orthodox churches in the Soviet Union. Though he supposedly respected/feared his mom enough to spare the Georgian Orthodox Church since she was highly religious. Though that could be said he was part of that Church, but his exact religion was something I never found in studying him.
Yup! Though all told, Hitler was either Occultist or Christian. Since his cronies had some occult tendencies. Atheist? Nah.Rudolf Hess was part of the Thule Society--an anti-Semitic occultist group. I doubt Hitler dabbled in the occult. Interestingly, there was only one member of the Nazi high command who was excommunicated by the Catholic Church: Joseph Goebbels, for marrying a Protestant. I mean, gotta draw the line somewhere.
I mean seriously, out of people to call atheist... at least get it right? Try Stalin or something. Jesus Christ.
I seriously doubt he was an atheist. ;)
As far as I can tell, he was an anti-theist the way he brought his hammer down on the Orthodox churches in the Soviet Union. Though he supposedly respected/feared his mom enough to spare the Georgian Orthodox Church since she was highly religious. Though that could be said he was part of that Church, but his exact religion was something I never found in studying him.
I think Himmler was a bit on the occult side too, if I remember correctly. Hitler just let them believe what they wanted as long as they didn't bother him with their weirdness. You're probably right about Himmler too. Actually I had the feeling something slipped my mind when I typed that.I think Himmler was a bit on the occult side too, if I remember correctly. I was referring to Jesus.

Himmler had some strange ideas about a sort of new-religion he saw which revolved around a mish-mash of King Arthur, Wagnerian opera, Hitler's ideas about the Aryan Race and a few other weird ideas. One of the castles that was under his command was to house the bodies of the first 12 SS members to be killed in combat. He claimed that it was a 'soldier's religion', which is ironic when you consider he never once heard a shot fired in anger.
It speaks volumes that even Hitler thought these ideas were batshit insane.
Yeah but if you read Mein Kampf he just comes off like a total whiner. He's Emo, that's what he is.You're probably right about Himmler too. So they are super good? Hitler was super bad after all...
Because sadly I have nothing better to do. I sat down and read this thread from page 1 to 13 right now. We went from talking about the history of the CofE to Hitler. Ladies and gentlemen, we have become the H channel.(http://weknowmemes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/mother-of-god-meme.jpg)
Clearly "god" is a race of 9 foot tall ripped albinos that want us dead. Duh.
That's actually hinted at in Prometheus. It was about 2,000 years ago that the Engineers decided they didn't like us anymore. Maybe because Jesus was a human-Engineer hybrid sent to teach us not to be such pricks, and we killed him.Clearly "god" is a race of 9 foot tall ripped albinos that want us dead. Duh.
That would explain a lot. That is why God in the old testament is so angry. They want us dead, so they made up all those laws and commandments and wanted to make us wipe out ourselves. It also explains why bible has so many inconsistencies, "God" is a whole species of homicidal aliens so they were bound to have some mixups.
Jesus was probably the only decent fellow in the species. Maybe he was so short that the others bullied him so he came to earth to try to help us and maybe make us a bit nicer.
Then we nailed him into a tree.
In fact it could be that albino alien Jesus is the reason why people keep portraying him as a white guy.

askold: So, who wants to be high priest of the Cult of the Albino Swissmen?

Didn't we just agree that they are going to kill us all? Why on earth would you want to worship them?
I mean it's not like they are Cthulhu or Nyarlahotep or something.

Same reason you worship Cthulhu: so you'll be the first to be eaten, and thus not have to suffer long from being in their presence.
or maybe the fact that they were Christian isn't important at allIt's only important in that part of Nazi reasoning was based on Christian anti-Semitism, and that AE's argument was that they were atheists.
Religious people and so-called "true-believers" residing in secular countries are always very vocal and very keen to destroy the foundations of that society, I have noticed.
Despite the liberties granted to them magnanimously by Christian society
