Sure. You hold their clothes and fetch the baby oil and body glitter and I'll hold the camera.

Look, I just need to know if we can sell it at mass market or if we'll be stuck with just adult bookstores.

Strictly speaking it's a fight. Though let's just say no one will be surprised if you wish to rub one out to it.

In more on-topic news, I finished A Hat in Time. I have to say, I'm really loving the old school 3D platformer revival that seems to be happening right now.

Playing thru Lonesome Road again; I forgot how much of a mouthy cunt Ulysses was.  Waxing poetic like he's more than just a mass-murdering fuckrod like every other piece of slaving Legion shit.

Oh god Ulysses.  He's such a god damn bastard.  Guy who sets you up for that ill-fated run then blames you for what you did in the Divide by accident.

Ironbite-I shot his head off.

I didn't give him a chance to go on another rambling bullshit monologue.  .50 Explosive BMG rounds answered any of his remaining quasi-philosophical ramblings.

Ulysses is such a waste of a character.  Like he's hinted at in every DLC and is basically the over arching tie in for all of them and then you get to Lonesome Road and the whole reason for Fallout New Vegas is because you accidentally nuked the Divide.  And this pissed off Ulysses so much he sets you up to take down every single mother fucker in the Wasteland.

Ironbite-good job there Ul.

He was a lot like Caesar: a character with great potential that ultimately ends up being wasted.  Though, at least with Caesar, he has the excuse of likely having incomplete information about exactly why and how the historical Caesar basically fucked ancient Rome over and was responsible for its ultimate downfall, along with that of Classical civilization.

Ulysses?  He's clearly well-read and intelligent, but he wastes so much time trying to be poetic that he just comes off as overly wordy and generally mouthy.  He commits the greatest possible sin of a video game antagonist: he's boring.  He speaks in this constant, dull, droning monotone that just puts you to sleep.  Plus, his motivation is just weak.  A butt-buddy of Caesar who tries to fuck off from the Legion, gets pissed that the Courier unknowingly craters his new home and, instead of doing something sensible, like hunting you down with a fucking shotgun, decides to go full Bond villain with an idiotic scheme that will only set the Wasteland even further back than it already is.

Of course, there's a theory floating around that Lonesome Road was, at least partially, the head writer giving a giant "fuck you" to the Fallout series' idea that people could actually, ya know, recover from the worst possible outcome for the human race imaginable barring total extinction.  Overall, its just a dull DLC with some interesting weapons and that's it.  The rest is just staid and boring.

I liked Ulysses.

I thought that his point was to show how much one person can accomplish, Ulysses and the Courier both change the world, for better or worse.

And one of the reasons why all the villains have a flaw is so that the player can reasonably use logic and speech to explain just how they have fucked up.

The Master was creating a new species that was infertile and doomed to die. The Enclave scientist who changes sides does so when he realizes that his people had been mistaken about the mutants not being humans and worthless and were about to commit genocide on a massive level. President Eden and whathisname the Enclave commander pretty much the same but with less resources and cooler voice actors. Caesar and Lanius had built a massive army of glorified raiders and slavers that was pretty good at destroying stuff but had no resources to keep hold of something like Vegas so far away and would have torn themselves apart if Caesar had tried to finally civilize them with his "synthezis" theory.

Just like that, Ulysses was after revenge in a pointless way and believed that by destroying the two new nations he would let humany start again (as it had after the last nuclear holocaust.)

All either have clear flaws in their plans or at least are trying to do something horribly unethical and can be reasoned with. (Ulysses and the F2 Enclave arguably had the best chances of succeeding.)
No matter what happens, no matter what my last words may end up being, I want everyone to claim that they were:
"If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."
Aww, you guys rock. :)  I feel the love... and the pitchforks and torches.  Tingly!

That's exactly the problem, though.  Ulysses is obviously quite intelligent, but to miss something as obvious as the fact that humanity is still recovering from the LAST apocalypse just stinks of lazy writing.  Again, Avellone basically admitted that Ulysses was an author avatar (a grave writing sin and huge black mark against the character) and that he invented him and the tunnelers because he didn't like the idea of humanity ever being able to recover from the apocalypse.  In Avellone's mind, anything other than a Mad Max-style wasteland with absolutely no hope of recovery was unacceptable.  In short: Ulysses and the tunnelers exist because Avellone wanted Fallout to be boring.  With Lonesome Road, he certainly fucking succeeded.

Yet the Avellone-written Fallouts show far more progress than Bethesda's contributions to the series. Out west, humanity started with scavenging to survive, then actually started rebuilding, culminating in entire nations that seemed pretty capable of rediscovering and rebuilding the old world, given enough time. Meanwhile on the east coast, 300 years have gone by since the bombs fell, yet for some strange reason nobody seems to have moved beyond scavenging to survive. Scavenging shit like pre-war perishable food and ammo, no less, just to add an additional layer of impossibly stuck in the past.

Oh, I'm not saying that the Bethesda Fallouts are anything less than ludicrous in their complete lack of world-building and development.  Hell, if you really wanna go the extra mile, Fallout 3 was basically the 1st Fallout, except with bugs in place of a looming threat of losing fresh water, with a bit of 2 (in the form of the Enclave) thrown in.  I mean, one could argue that DC, being a complete shithole prewar, wasn't really capable of supporting large communities on its own due to a lot of the arable land being taken up by concrete bullshit stacked to the clouds.  But Boston?  Near a natural harbour, with access to easy (if not necessarily clean) water that could be used for irrigation?  That there's, like...one actual "city" in the entire Boston area is utterly retarded, especially after several hundred years.

Of course, there's also the little annoyance that no one, after several hundred years, decided to pick up a fucking broom and clean shit up.  I mean, Jesus dick-fucking Christ, why are even the fanciest places in the Mojave (the Strip's casinos) still so full of fucking dirt and grime?  Why has nobody collected all the trash in Diamond City?  Humans do not like living in filth.

I'd argue that Boston had tried to regain some measure of society but the Institute wouldn't let them.  For some reason.  I mean, it's not like anyone knew they were even there unless their security work was so sloppy.  They could've just maintained their silence and watched.  But no, they had to murder the only government that showed up for reasons.

Ironbite-dicks.
