Trying to remember the handle that Texan (?) lad you used to argue with was. The one who believed delivering newspapers from his mum's car was equivalent to indentured servitude.

I've been gone for a long, long time. Not sure I'll be back often or long, either.

In the interim, I've got older, had a couple of kids and became no more or less interesting or intelligent than I ever was. Anything wild and crazy with the long-termers who might remember me?

Going to yet another paramilitary training camp for the weekend.

Because it's not like the global situation, particularly the part of the globe that has Russia, has made me think military training is not needed.

Also, it's damn cheap as the Finnish military has seen it necessary to provide cheap training for volunteer reservists... Which is nice, necessary and makes the country a safer place but still kinda worrisome that the government thinks this is important enough to spend tax payer money on.

In about a week and a half I'm going to be moving 1100 miles away. So my Internet will be erratic until I get something like WiFi set up.

In case I forget to write this later, my vacation is starting tomorrow and for the first week or so at least my time on the net will be random and it might take a while for me to reply to things.

(Good thing that I am getting a vacation, I've nearly burnt myself out with the workload and due to lack of sleep. ...When the kids don't sleep, daddy don't sleep either.)

Voluntary. For the record, the course began with a lecture on the psychology of why it is difficult for people to kill other people (very interesting stuff) and during the weekend we will be taught how to get over this hurdle.

If "or else" did not apply before then now it is extremely relevant.

(Turns out that I have net here but I won't have much time to use it.)

Askold: "Or else..."

Is this a required military service training refresher, or are you voluntarily doing so to improve your Medieval re-enactor hobby?
