Terror plot foiled in GA

LUDOWICI, Ga. (AP) — Four Army soldiers based in southeast Georgia killed a former comrade and his girlfriend to protect an anarchist militia group they formed that stockpiled assault weapons and plotted a range of anti-government attacks, prosecutors told a judge Monday.

Prosecutors in rural Long County, near the sprawling Army post Fort Stewart, said the militia group of active and former U.S. military members spent at least $87,000 buying guns and bomb components. They allege the group was serious enough to kill two people — former soldier Michael Roark and his 17-year-old girlfriend, Tiffany York — by shooting them in the woods last December in order to keep its plans secret.

Maybe that Texas judge that was talking about riots and armed revolution stuff if Obama is re-elected might of had a closer bit of truth to it than we thought.   This is pretty crazy.  At least they were caught before anything actually happened though!

I just saw this article today.    The thing that freaked me out was that based on what I read, authorities aren't really sure just how many people total might have joined this group -- there could be more people they don't know about.

Two bad they weren't caught before they killed that couple (may have been part of the group but probably came to their senses). That said, I still agree with you.

Just read through the article and I am just shocked.
I hate to think that there might be other servicemen out there that were members of this.
I want to think that all their long term plans were just delusions from a group of batshit insane fucknuts.
Given the names of the members, and the looks of them in the photo, I believe that anyone would have a hard sell in trying to convince anyone that these nutjobs were/are Muslims.
In fact, this looks, imo, like a group of homegrown white christian domestic terrorists. But I do admit the 'christian' aspect is pure speculation on my part. But hey, it works for Fox News.
Given that some of these men were active Army at the time of there arrest, I would love to see the Army step in and try them for treason.

Murder, mutiny, and sedition are all considered capital offenses under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.  It will be interesting to see how the prosecution handles this.

The Uniform Military Code of Justice IS a lot stricter than civilian law. I definitely wouldn't be surprised if they ended up facing life in front of the firing squad for this. Anyone know what the standard of evidence is in military court?  Just to enlighten me on the subject.
