CEO says that he works 50 times harder than his underlings
« on: October 02, 2012, 09:20:14 pm »
Suffering CEO Michael O'Leary claims that his yearly income of €1.2m (£1m) isn't nearly enough for the work he does.

Quote
With a habitual dig at the rival airline that Ryanair has been blocked from taking over, O'Leary said: "I'm paid about 20 times more than the average employee and I think that gap should be wider. I probably work 50 times harder. I was paid €1.2m last year for carrying 80 million passengers. Aer Lingus's boss [Christoph Mueller] got €1.3m for carrying 9 million passengers. I think I'm the most underpaid and underappreciated airline boss in Europe."

And the expenses are killing him.

Quote
..."holidays are a complete waste of time"... He said: "Of course I fly Ryanair, but it costs me a fortune in excess baggage."

And if all this didn't inspire confidence in this poor downtrodden man, he concludes with this gem:

Quote
"I'm probably unemployable, which is why a business as shitty as the airline industry is one where I can flourish."

My heart bleeds.  :'(

Unless he's running an orphanage for displaced refugee children allergic to everything but high-grade sturgeon caviar, I don't want to hear it.

How the fuck are people like this completely unaware of the world around them?

Because they know nothing else. They were born into a world where everyone has a trust fund and will inherit millions.

A comment Romney made recently sums it up. He was stating that young people today won't take chances and start their own business. He went on to say "all they need to do is borrow $20,000 from their parents" and they'll have the capital to begin. For him and everyone he knows, $20,000 is probably what falls out of his couch. He has no basis to understand that $20,000 is more than some people make in a year.

He's being abused.  I can't stop weeping.
I am an old man, and I've seen many problems, most of which never happened.

No body understands how hard it is to crack a whip and scream "work harder and faster".

I mean, do you have any idea how hard it is to find ways to get out of paying employees a reasonable wage while forcing them through as much work as possible? The amount of work required to find new ways to get out of providing necessary tools is astounding, along with finding the sweet spot in exactly how few employees you need so you can still achieve a big enough bonus to buy a new car/house. It isn't easy.

You're being sarcastic, but they do put a great deal of work into it. I've sat in on a few meetings to the effect.

Oh, I know they put a lot of work into it. That just makes it even more hilarious. I look at it like the people who spend more time avoiding work than actually doing the work.

O'Leary's a fucking arsehole. He doesn't actually mean this shite, he's just focusing attention.

No-one sets out to fly Ryanair, ever, but they will if it's cheaper and the name's in their head. He knows this, so he pulls this shit every couple of months.

I find it probable that he really believes every word of that drivel.

But really there's an easy way for this guy to prove himself right.

Split his airline in two.

One has all the employees that according to him arent' working that hard.

and in the other we have O'learly.  Just O'Leary

See which one is around in a year
