I had to get all my shots as a kid because my parents have brains. They certainly paid for it in their sanity. Me + needles = you're not going to be very happy. At least I didn't threaten to stab the nurse in the eye to get out of it, unlike someone I know.
What I used to think was me is just a fading memory. I looked him right in the eye and said "Goodbye".

yeah I had all the shots that were widely used at the time (except whooping cough due to health issues natch).

Fortunately I am not particularly scared of needles, as I've had to have lots, again due to health issues.
From international relations to religious rivalries, from marriage to athlete's foot, whatever the problem a fundy's first solution is usually violence.

Oddly enough, chickenpox isn't immunised against in the UK, least not on the NHS. Though we did have the MMR anti-vax issues about 15 years back....which paid off with a large measels outbreak in Wales this summer (1200 cases, 1 death). They gave out 75k non-routine vaccines in response.

As an aspiring historian, that is sadly all too true.
Excuse me, sir, do you have a minute to talk about your lord and savior, Hannibal Barca?

Yeah, if the pagans are so smart, why did Jesus invade Pagan-land on the back of a dragon and kill them all!

That's pretty depressing.

I find it even more upsetting when people do study history and still fail to learn anything, or even glorify past mistakes. Plain old ignorance is pretty easy to solve, but ignorance that persists regardless of education is a lot harder to deal with.

I tend to have a saying for this, which I'll coin right now....

I feel old now given that there wasn't a chicken pox vaccine around when I was little.

I was fortunate enough to have a Chicken Pox immunity. My older sis got it once. Total zitty Calamine itch-fest. I was around her and got none of it. Woo hoo!

Could have sworn there was when I was a kid.

Ironbite-btw, practically the same age as you.

The chicken pox vaccine was originally developed and released in parts of Asia in the late 80s, but didn't become widely available in North America until the mid-late 90s. I was already in junior high when it was released up here in Canada and had caught it years earlier, when I was around 5 or 6, so I was never given the vaccine. As far as I know, the US released it a couple of years before we did, though I could be wrong about that.

I don't remember getting it the vaccine, and my mother is the type to never skip a vaccine. I know I had the chicken pox, still have the scar on my stomach from getting it.
