Yes I know this is a necro...BUT IT'S A FOLLOW-UP!

The Church and the Pastor are getting charged

PITTSBURGH — A southeastern Pennsylvania church and a youth pastor are facing criminal charges for a mock kidnapping of a youth group that was meant to be a lesson in religious persecution.

The Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Middletown and 28-year-old Andrew David Jordan of Elizabethtown were charged Friday with false imprisonment and simple assault, said Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico.

The church staged the event in March. Mock kidnappers covered the teenagers' heads, put them in a van and interrogated them. Neither the young people nor their parents were told beforehand that it wasn't real. The mother of a 14-year-old girl filed a complaint with police.

"This is a sad case for all those involved," Marsico said, adding that while the church's and Jordan's intentions were not necessarily harmful, "they in essence terrorized several children."

Good good...glad to see someone's got some sense in the police department.

Ironbite-and the church insists there's nothing wrong with what they did.

If I was given advance warning of this, my response would be to purchase my kid a good combat knife, then do a self-defense refresher (I intend to give my children a basic knowledge of self-defense techniques).

Good that they're getting prosecuted.

This is good to see, as I'd be fuming if they were let off because of "good intentions." And yet it's still maddening to see that the assembly viewed such a thing as constructive.

Thank nonexistant god.  Seriously I bet they didn't even get parental consent.

Well, glad that some action is being taken against them in the legal circles.

I wonder if the parents of the children can sue for pain and suffering?

I'm glad that legal charges have been filed on this.
Hopefully we might see some civil charges filed as well.
Nothing hurts groups like this as hard as a punch in their wallets.
Please keep us informed as the preceeding progress.
I really want to see what type, if any, defense the church puts up to justify their actions.

But I can vision a Hell of flame
For I have lived on Earth.

Dude, Atavist, fucking yes.  I would love to see how they defend their crimes, and watch as the judge rakes their tender asses over white-hot coals.  Karma's a bitch, and schadenfreude is sweet, sweet candy.

So if I actually prefer sour-flavored candy, I get sweet, sweet, sour candy?

On this side of the pond, America is known as "The Sioux Sue Nation" so I suppose they will.
I support them if they do, but I like to see lawyers (and bankers) unemployed, penniless and homeless.
