On Feb. 4, Buzzfeed published an article called
"The 33 Fiercest Moments From Beyoncé's Halftime Show" with pictures and animated GIFs of her singing and dancing. Some of these were deemed inappropriate and, indeed, "unflattering" by Beyoncé's publicist who
sent Buzzfeed an email requesting specific "unflattering" images be taken down. (The publicist had
already gotten to Getty Images.) It was at this point that the Streisand Effect--defined as a phenomena whereby an attempt to conceal an image or information has the unintended consequence of further publicizing it--kicked in. Folks on the Internet began Photoshopping like mad, and with some (in my opinion) pretty funny results:
Just to reiterate, don't mess with the Internet. Srsly.
