Vatican officials are putting a new twist on a very old custom next week by offering up "indulgences" - essentially credits for less time in purgatory -- to those who follow the pope on Twitter.Indulgences are typically granted by church officials to Catholics who carry out tasks demonstrating an extraordinary amount of faith, like climbing the Sacred Steps in Rome....Senior Vatican officals say that attending certain events, like the upcoming Catholic World Youth Day in Brazil, can also earn indulgences - and for the first time ever, so can following the week's events live via Twitter.
It doesn't concern you, Sister, that kind of absolutist view of the universe? Right and wrong determined solely by a single all-knowing, all powerful being whose judgment cannot be questioned and in whose name the most horrendous acts can be sanctioned without appeal?
Being required by someone else’s religious beliefs to behave contrary to one’s sexual identity is degrading and disrespectful.
No matter what happens, no matter what my last words may end up being, I want everyone to claim that they were: "If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."
Aww, you guys rock. I feel the love... and the pitchforks and torches. Tingly!
Her3tik, you have groupies.
There are a number of ways, though my favourite is simply to take them by surprise. They're just walking down the street, minding their own business when suddenly, WHACK! Penis to the face.
Next thing you know, he'll by rhyming over some phat beatz to get the youngsters interested in the faith again.
Also, the Pope has had a Twitter account since Benedict XVI.

Indulgences are still a thing? I thought they died out sometime during the Renaissance.
