Title: weird... thread disappearing?
Post by: guizonde on December 29, 2015, 04:50:11 pm
hey, i wanted to post in the "things people say on the internet" thread, and searching yielded only the 2012 thread. was it flat-out deleted without being sent to the lox'd box?

It is indeed missing for me, as well.

I didn't bother looking through my post history more than two months for a post in it, since I'm a fairly regular poster in that thread. It really is missing at this point. Like it never existed. Creepy.

It was over 1300 pages long. Might be our longest thread, or nearly. I'm gonna check the beginning of Good Things People say etc, and see if it got squished onto that one somehow.

...Nope. That ain't it either.

..And I just got back from forum stats. Boy, was I way off estimating the missing Things People Say thread's size being big. Still, it's a respectable size, and it's really sad to lose it, if that is what has happened?

I think Shane altered hers when she was still a mod.

Time for a mea culpa here, that was me screwing up. I was trying to mass-delete certain posts and instead deleted the threads they were in. I don't know which threads exactly were affected, though another one was Best of Social Justice.

I think (hope) most of the ones affected were old and not seeing regular activity. If you see a thread that died please feel free to restart it.

My apologies for the lost threads.

Okay. That's way better than the thoughts of a server backup misfiring or a hacker screwing with us!

Aw that sucks. I posted in Things People Say on the Internet a lot.

i take it that the deleting of the threads deleted the post counts as well? i was sure i passed 1776 posts, and i remember solar having at least 700.

Yeah, I had just passed 5000, but now I'm back down. I didn't think I had so many posts in that thread, honestly. I'm also surprised that there's not some sort of easily accessed backup mechanism for situations like this.

I never really liked Shane, but he preferred male pronouns last I recall.

Aah, my bad.  One of the bad things of not having folks around as much when they've got somewhat ambiguously-gendered names.

I figured you meant no ill will, in particular because you've known him since like, what 2009. But still, tis my duty to my fellow tranny to get pronouns right, even if I dislike said fellow tranny.
