Steam Summer Sale
« on: July 14, 2012, 04:39:40 am »
I figured to make a thread on this since this is the big thing for two weeks.  I've managed to snag quite a few games at 50/75 off in the two days so far:

The only thing I worry about is missing flash sales due to work, they seem to be alot better then the daily ones so far.

Also, that evil cat is totally going to burn the treehouse down.

I keep looking at the deals, debating with myself. "That game looks good, and the sale is amazing, but will I really like it and is it worth it?"

Which is why I am happy to have the steam app on my phone, no missed flash deals.

I'm thinking of grabbing Amnesia while it's on sale. I'm not sure if my laptop is up to the task of running it, or I'm up to the task of not shitting myself in fright (my tolerance of horror has really plummeted in recent years), but might as well give it a go while it's cheap. Though Penumbra is even cheaper and easier on the system. Maybe I'll get both. All up it'll only cost $15.

That said, those are the only two games I'm even considering right now. I've got a big fuckoff backlog on GOG to work through so I probably shouldn't even be buying these, but come to think of it I don't think I've ever played a pure survival horror, much less a good one (the closest that comes to mind is Eternal Darkness, and even that's just hacky slashy shooty through hordes of monsters rather than simply trying not to get torn limb from limb).

What do you lot think. Should I go for it?

Go for it. I don't usually find a work of fiction scary, but Amnesia gives me the jibblies.

I think I'll sleep on it for now, just to ensure I'm not impulse buying. If that's all clear, then I likely give it a shot.

Hehe, in my case friend, that is no longer necessary.
Picked up SpaceChem and the Tropico4 bundle so far.
SpaceChem was a damn good choice if I do say so myself. It's one of those puzzle games that brain-meltingly difficult but is still completely fair at the same time.

While I hate to double post, it looks like there's a chance of a 75% off Amnesia sale in five hours, assuming the voting goes my way. I'll keep an eye on that and I'll definitely be grabbing Amnesia if all works out as it should.

I voted for Amnesia too... even though I can't stand horror games.

Much obliged, good sir.

On an unrelated note, am I the only one who thinks the Steam client really needs tabbed browsing? For Christ's sake, even Internet fucking Explorer has tabbed browsing.

I'm kind of waiting to see if Fortune Summoners ends up as one of the daily deals. If not, I'll pick it up on the final day of the sale.
