The only "problem" is that he gives away his opinion of equality when he starts. It would have a better effect if he went through the speech, then dropped the bomb at the end.
how did he give it away?
"My name is (whatever it is). I was born and raised in Springfield, Missouri, and I stand before you this evening in favor of this ordinance."
To the viewer, not knowing the ordinance, I guess he would not be giving it away. To the people on the board and in the audience, who know the ordinance, he would be stating his view.
