Catholic School screws student out of prom

because she didn't have a date

This kind of stuff just pisses me off.  They can't just let her enjoy the prom, no that would make sense.  They have to be uptight sticklers more concerned with stupid rules and traditions. 

I know this isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it's the perfect example of stupidity from both the schools and the Catholic church.

Also in this case I dunno why the Catholic school did but I don't think she can do anything unlike the prom fiasco two years ago in Mississippi.

Jeez. I may not have gone to prom (twice by choice, once by breakup [score! I didn't want to go anyways :P]), but this is just asinine. If it's not too late, I rather hope that this girls' friends can organize a separate prom-like event and do that instead. I'd love to see the look on the teachers' faces if half the students didn't show up, or better yet demanded a refund.

On the plus side, this is exactly the kind of shit that will empty Catholic churches in droves.

I went to three proms/formals/whatever, and no one could care less if you came with a date or not (I didn't for any), and it was only in our last one where non-school members could be brought as guests.

Frankly, this is just plain and utterly stupid. Everyone going to the prom must be part of a couple? Really?

I went to several dances by myself. The best event I ever went to, I went with a gay guy and a lesbian couple as my dates. I danced with the one who turned out to be my best friend, I learned how to grind, and I danced without being self-conscious. I didn't go to my Junior Prom because my mom thought that going with a bunch of girls would make me look like a lesbian. I went to my boyfriend's prom the following year. My general conclusion? It doesn't matter if you have a date, it just matters if you have a friend there to keep things interesting.

She should come up with a girlfriend to go with, that's a date and it worked for me... :D
