When a 'mob' forms there is a peculiar synergy and the 'mob mentality' prevails. People behave in a barbaric way, they commit acts they would never dream of committing as a group of individuals.

One of my nightmare scenarios is being caught up within a mindless mob...
Probably better than being the target of a mindless mob, though.

Well, it's pretty obvious right now you're picking on someone because you don't like them.

Can we leave the personal bullshit out of this topic?

Islam isn't any more inherently insane than Christianity or Judaism.  The problem is a lot of the cultural/tribal baggage they add onto their beliefs, and the general poverty and lack of education in the middle east.  Extremist groups can take advantage of this, because the people aren't given critical thinking skills, and they can blame their poor living conditions on "the infidels".  The governments aren't going to do anything about it, because the problems are largely their fault, and they're not about to let the blame shift back to them.

Excellent point.  Couldn't have said it better myself.
And when we're done soul searching,
And we carry the weight and die for a cause.
Is misery made beautiful
Right before our eyes.

Mercy be revealed, or blind us where we stand?

I have a feeling that I should stay out of this conversation, being that I am named Jodie and have been diagnosed with a mental illness...  :o
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Corinthians 13: 4-7

Oh, man, I am sorry. If I had known I would have changed his name. I meant nothing personal.

It's okay, it's kind of funny actually.
