Out of interest, but do I have this right?

Scientology preaches that several million years ago (or last week) an Alien came to earth and threw thousands of people into a volcano (for whatever reason) and that this same alien will come again and be nice to everyone, but in the meantime the souls are stuck on me like band-aids?

And do they also believe all the works of L Ron Hubbard are actually fact?

Yeah, and there's something about aliens setting of nuclear bombs in there too.

So now Hubbard's dead, who runs it?

And if they don't publish their beliefs freely (as all other religions do) why aren't they legally a cult, in the same way the Manson family was?

Think it's currently run by David Miscaviage. Though they keep digging up "hidden" new works by Hubbard.

So many hidden new works that you wonder how he had time to have any kind of life at all outside Scientology?

Ah, Scientology.

A religion that one can point to and say "Nothing good has ever come from this"

Oh I dunno, it led to Tom Cruise making a complete tit of himself on TV a few times, which more than made up for paying to see Top Gun.

Can we directly link Scientology with Tom Cruise making a complete tit of himself?

Am I the only one morbidly amused by how his last name closely resembles "Miscarriage"?

There's that clip where he starts wittering on that, if he sees an accident, because he's a scientologist he knows exactly what to do.  You know, the one the Scientoligists have done their best to make sure nobody sees.

That seems more like because he's an idiot rather than because he's a Scientologist :P

Well, come to that, do you think that anyone getting involved with Scientology is anything less than seven cans short of a six pack? ;)

The quote takes on a darker meaning when it comes to my friend's Scientologist dad, who's an alcoholic. :(
