The spokesperson for Republican Rep. Hayworth (19-NY), Jay Townsend, on Facebook responded to a commentor, Tom, by bringing up the "war on women" and suggested that they "hurl some acid at those female Democratic Senators"

Listen to Tom. What a little bee he has in his bonnet. Buzz Buzz. My question today … when is Tommy boy going to weigh in on all the Lilly Ledbetter hypocrites who claim to be fighting the War on Women? Let’s hurl some acid at those female democratic Senators who won’t abide the mandates they want to impose on the private sector.

The sad thing is that this jerk is from my backyard, my current congressional district is being merged into her district  , but on the positive side there's a shitload of buyer's remorse with Hayworth, and her teabagger buddies, so she might not be back  .

The lesson here to a candidate running for public office? When a prominent supporter goes off the reservation and says something idiotic, YOU need to be the one to set the record straight and you need to do it immediately and forcefully. Not doing it at all will usually come back to haunt you.

If by that you mean onto the GOPers, a lot of them would come out of that as better people.  Or not.  Either way, I can't think of any hypothetical situation that would be much more fun to watch than a bunch of fundies in the midst of a heavy acid trip...
