Yes, 25 years ago Todd Akin was arrested for joining a radical anti-abortion group in blocking access to a women's health clinic. So, unsurprisingly, Rep. Legitimate Rape has had a long history of hatred for all things female. If nothing else I hope he loses his senate bid.

I usually don't care for pulling out decade-old sins of politicians, or anyone.
It seems that in Akin's case, he hasn't changed much. Still, so what?

Well there are a few points that I think are important in this case:

• It establishes that Rep. Akin has had a long history of misogynist activity.
• It reveals Todd Akin believes one should follow "God's law" when it contradicts "man's law". This is bad enough without it being from a lawmaker.
• It means that he has ties to far right extremists and domestic terrorists.

You are not appreciating the Fundie mindset on this.  They can't be domestic terrorists because they are punishing people who break God's law.  And this is a Christian country.

That's all certainly true, which is why he bragged about it in front of the "pro-life" crowds and shied away from the issue when confronted by the press.
