What is $95 worth to you?
« on: July 03, 2014, 04:43:39 pm »
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/quebec-woman-fined-60-for-leaving-2-children-in-hot-van-1.2695189

For one woman, it's worth not having to keep track of your kids while you're shopping.

Quote
A woman in St-Jérôme, Que., was given a $60 fine for leaving her two young children in the back of her minivan on a day when the temperature felt like 37 C with the humidity.

...

The window had been left open a few centimetres.

Police officers went inside the store and found the mother, a 40-year-old woman, and explained to her the dangers of leaving her children alone in a hot car. They then gave her a $60 fine plus $35 in fees — the maximum fine allowed under the law, police said.

Youth protection services was also notified.

So yeah. Leave your kids in a hot, humid car and get fined less than $100. At least the window was slightly open, unlike the stories you hear about pets being left in such vehicles without even that.

Wait, I thought above freezing was warm for Canada?
Excuse me, sir, do you have a minute to talk about your lord and savior, Hannibal Barca?

Yeah, if the pagans are so smart, why did Jesus invade Pagan-land on the back of a dragon and kill them all!

Wait, I thought above freezing was warm for Canada?

Not in the summer.

Also, I grew up in a temperate rainforest. It didn't often drop below freezing, and there were plenty of winters with very little snow.

That said, I've stopped trying to anticipate what people around here want a while ago, I've found it makes things smoother.
For I was an hungred, and ye told me to pull myself up by my bootstraps: I was thirsty, and ye demanded payment for the privilege of thine urine: I was a stranger, and ye deported me: naked, and ye arrested me for indecency.

Sure, but a) the fine should be increased and b) that doesn't mean they'll do anything.

Let's be honest. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than day care.

Yes.  Much like with Russia, there are many warm parts of Canada.

LIES!  Mother Russia is cold bitch, eternally locked in ice and snow.

Ironbite-hence why we all drink Vodka to stay warm.

Canada and Western New York often have summer during the same weekend.
I am an old man, and I've seen many problems, most of which never happened.
