It exists in the Fallout world but even then, it's very tame compared to what it would be.
And while I'm not saying it should reflect how it would be in real life or have a lot of detail included in it, I'm fine with the screen going black for X#  of game hours, but it is something I feel should be included.

Hours?  Dude, if you're screwing for hours, you must have the stamina of a god.  /missing-the-point-entirely

That or you really really REALLY love foreplay.

Probably the former as you can wind up being a full on pornstar.

I only now remember about this one and find out that it's shutting down.

A shame too, out of the three games, this one seemed like it had it's shit together best.

Just...why?  What's wrong with NCSoft?  First, they kill off Tabula Rasa right as it was hitting its stride (and, from what I hear, screwing Lord British out of a dickload of money), now they kill off City of Heroes?  I mean, I've never played it...subscription-based games are something of a gaming turn-off, but that always seemed like one of their biggest money-makers, aside from perhaps Guild Wars.
CoH went free to play a while back, the limits aren't anything to horrible, but it is a pretty old game at this point and has newer competition with licenses people want to play with attached to them. I still think it was the best of the lot, but I played it pretty much to death. Though I may try running with the mastermind concept and make a game out of it if they're going down completely.

Funny thing about Tabula Rasa, Lord British sued and I believe won a small fortune on the matter. That said, it needed a LOT of work. If it'd played more like the Secret world I've have given it more of a chance, but like the Secret World it too was rushed to market. Which is sad, because I figure SW is going to get canned before too long as well and I really like it.

I liked the way Tabula Rasa played.  It was simple, tactical, and smooth.  The game itself suffered heavily from NC's desire to rush it out the door without proper playtesting, which did hurt it comin out, but it gained strength as they got shit patched up and improved.  Hell, I played several (used multiple throw-away e-mail accounts) trials, and would've probably subscribed if I'd had a job back then.

Ya know, if they kill games like this, they should put the server software and shit up for grabs.  I mean, it won't be making any money for them, anyway, and people would've likely bought it just to make their own private servers and keep the game alive, like they've done with Ultima Online.

CoH and Paragon are shutting down? Aw, man, now I have major sads. City of Heroes was one of my favorite games back in the day.

Speaking of "back in the day", I reinstalled Deus Ex today, and promptly lost an afternoon. Totally worth it.

There's a lot involved in that software, and ensuring someone else doesn't make money off of it is typically a pretty big priority, as well as maintaining any intellectual property rights tied up in it. Simply put, it's not bloody likely that people are going to let go of their software just because some people want it. It could actually cost them a great deal in the long run.

Though I should admit to shelling out for Rasa when it came out, and being quite pissed off at the time. I wasn't surprised at all, when you pay 60 bucks for a game you expect it to be done. Probably the first time I got burned on a retail game, so it holds a special place in the the hunk of my brain that stores disappointments and swindles.

Hmm...perhaps.  I know there was a Tabula Rasa private server project going at one time, but I haven't seen anything about it recently.

Though, EA has pretty much said it'll allow Ultima Online server emulators like RunUO and LoneWolf to continue, even though they could easily stop them all dead in a minute...which is honestly quite surprising, given their track record.  (I know it doesn't have much to do with the TR thing, just an addendum.)  I can see it working for a game like UO, because I can tell ya from first-hand experience, there is a world of difference between free shards, and the proper shards, and that could easily lend to increasing their subscriber base.  Kinda like how MP3s helped otherwise unknown artists get some fans and headway to work with so they could continue making their music.

Thank you, Sips, for introducing me to Happy Wheels.  I FUCKING LOVE HAPPY WHEEEEEEEEELLS!

Well, with CoH going under, I guess it is time to saddle up and find a new MMO to haunt for a while.

I'm thinking either STO, LotRO, DCUO, or DDO. Anyone got any other suggestions?

I'd suggest DDO, its fairly stable, free-to-play, and by and large, the player base isn't a raving bunch of lunatics, which is always a plus.

Hell, the forums are actually split instead of being pure unadulterated hatewanking.

Still nearly intolerable, but it's improved.  Until the next major patch.

I generally assume that people don't visit gaming forums unless they need to.  That said, I've never needed to go to the DDO forums except, like, two times.  Once for Lamannia, and the other to look at some build someone told me about.

Really...there's nothing there that's of any real use, as far as the game itself goes.

Talked with the gamestop guys a bit today.

Borderlands 2 has an additional bonus from game stop, as the poster puts it "Moxxi's Rocket Launcher" which is apparently named in game "Moxxi's Creamer". I'm gonna guess that was named a fair distance away from the people who had to approve the posters.

YES! YES!

And it has all of the game modes from the original PSP version, unlike the XBLA version which reduced them to glorified Hero 30 stages?

My body wasn't ready.

Actually, Zacky, my laptop can run it better than it does DDO.  Granted, it pretty much runs at bare bones graphics settings, which it automatically detects and sets for you (that's how you do convenience RIGHT), but it works right out of the box, as promised, and it works well.

For the record, here's the basic get-up I'm workin with:

* AMD E-350 Processor (2x core) 1.6 GHz
* 4 GB of RAM
* Windows 7 (64-bit OEM)
* AMD Radeon HD 6310 Graphics

I got it for...around 400 bones.  I've had Minecraft maps that run slower than Guild Wars 2.

Holy fuck, seriously? I thought there was no way my laptop could handle it, as jumpy as it can be with rendering distances in Minecraft above Normal. I've got less RAM but 2.3 GHz, so maybe there's hope.

Running a 64bit operating system, less than 4GB of RAM, your are litterly missing half of the advantages of 64bit.

Optifine is your friend, your sanity will depend upon it. Good luck using a texture pack grater than 16x16.
