We're averaging $3.90+ per gallon around the Saugerties/Kingston area here in NY now...

I don't know about right wing-people, but some people around here do remeber when prices went up 0,20-0,30 €/litre overnight when Bush decided on that little war-trip after 9/11... And yeah, we blame America xD And our taxes. And wars. And taxes.

I think it's around $4/gallon here.  I don't pay too much attention though since I don't drive. >_>
