Anonymous hacks Chinese websites
« on: April 06, 2012, 01:03:16 am »
http://www.smh.com.au/technology/security/anonymous-says-it-hacked-chinese-government-sites-20120406-1wgbg.html

IMO this just reinforces xenophobia.

And makes people hate the hackers for disrupting web services.

Incriminating evidence of government activities, now that would be more effective.

I'd be impressed (though not in a positive way) if the script kiddies actually managed this, but they're most likely exaggerating and fibbing.

The idea of a non-organization flying under an all-encompassing vaguely defined banner is something that is hard to grasp for people who don't hang out on the internet.

A mass of shitty hackers can eventually brute force through something. Anonymous does have some good hackers, but I doubt they go around saying "hae guyz look @ ma l33t haxin skillz!11!1111", like the more numerous idiots do.
History is full of maniacs, my friend, men and women of intelect, highly perceptive individuals, who's brilliant minds know neither restraint nor taboo. Such notions are the devils we must slay for the edification of pony-kind. Even if said edification means violating the rules of decency, society, and rightousness itself.
