George Zimmerman, acquitted in July in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, was arrested Monday afternoon for allegedly pointing a shotgun at his girlfriend and pushing her out of her house as he packed to move out, the Seminole County Sheriff's Office said.

One of the places we went to the other day had a TV that mentioned Zimmerman being arrested and something about a "Disturbance Call", but that was all I got because the sound was off, it was displayed on the ticker, and the closed captioning was behind about 10 seconds and we were moving past it.

I can't say I'm particularly surprised by this.

Now to sit back and wait for Republicans to jump in and accuse Zimmerman's girlfriend of being an abusive thug who was threatening him and actually broke the glass table.

Oh wait, no they won't, she's white.

More likely, we'll start hearing about how he is being targeted, and that thw whole ordeal has caused him so much stress that he cracked.  never mind that his current actions fit in perfectly with the Myspace pages and actions reported prior to the shooting (and conveniently absent from the trial).  Everything that has happened to poor George since the shooting is that durned colored kid's fault!

Apparently not. Most sane people, having gotten acquitted from a highly publicized criminal case on a technicality, would have spent the rest of their lives really trying not to attract the attention of law enforcement. I guess Zimmerman loves the attention.

Hearing about George Zimmerman reminds me of the sad case of Brian Deneke. Basically, his killer was able to get away with murder with probation (the court of law considered his act to be voluntary vehicular manslaughter), but Deneke's murderer blew it when he was arrested for drunk driving and found to be in violation of other parole agreements.

With people like these, yeah it sucks that they get away with something so egregious as murder, but they always manage a way to screw it up for themselves.
