Mitt Romney ad attacks Obama for singing song
« on: July 21, 2012, 09:43:36 pm »
Okay, so Obama's ad with Romney awful rendition of America the Beautiful with stats about his outsourcing job written across the bottom at least made sense. But how does Romney's counter-attack (with Obama singing 'Let's stay together' by Al Green) make sense? Obama sang quite well, most people find his self-conscious bursts of song to be endearing rather than frightening or lame. Well, here's one explanation:

Quote
“It’s the difference between the songs that they’re singing,” Mrs Welch said. “Mitt Romney didn’t exactly do a beautiful job on that song, but think about what he’s singing, OK? I mean it’s that patriotic song and he goes all the way through it. Then you’ve got the very cool Barack Obama singing Al Green. That is the two different Americas. Isn’t it?” Suzy Welch, Romney supporter.

Al Green is an African-American. A lovely dog-whistle, at least from Mrs Welch.

(Ed: best cite where that quote came from, huh?)

The party's name is the Democratic Party. It has been since 1830. Please spell correctly.

Welch also ignored the point of the ad.

I'm speechless. This whole affair is complete absurd.
Two politicians attacking each other over how and about what they sang a song?
Dada, Kafka, and Anno together couldn't have thought of it.
That said, I've stopped trying to anticipate what people around here want a while ago, I've found it makes things smoother.

The Obama ad drew a contrast between Romney's choice of patriotic song and his record of outsourcing jobs. The actual issue of the ad is the record on outsourcing. The actual issue of the corresponding Romney ad is...Obama didn't sing a patriotic song. It's ONE politician attacking the other over a song.

If you think these are bad, you should have seen the attack ads the Conservative party was running here in Canada when there wasn't even an election.

This, it does some damage especially since Romney doesn't address the issues, just attacks. His moronic conservative backing will undoubtably cheer him on while those that were fence sitting will slink away
