That's an outrageously short sentence for a murderer. I'd also like to know that everyone else at the party has been charged with manslaughter.

There is no way Sheared did not realize Simpson would burn. This is why we have the hate crime sentencing requirements here. Yes, I want to know what the fuck is going to happen to the rest of the thugs who joined in the (lynching) party.

Ironbite, it's because far too many UK judges are senile old wankers who are hopelessly out of touch with reality: Once they become a judge, there is no onus on them to take retirement and they can keep working for as long as they want. Some of them honestly think that 5 years (or in this case, less) is a really long time to send someone to prison for.

I don't understand how they can call this a prank that went wrong. Holding a lighter up to someones skin is not a prank, or even bullying. It is torture.

This judgement by him shows a correct sentence, but clearly, in context with his sentence on Sheard, the hypocrisy is so deep one can drown contemplating it;

The tough sentence on that disgusting rapist was appropriate but the hypocrisy is so obvious & homophobic.
The Sheard case involved a (presumably) hetro guy torture-killing an autistic gay guy.
The rape case involved a guy who brutally raped another guy.
If the scumbag is gay, he gets the book thrown at him. If the victim is gay, his killer gets a wrist slap.
Judge Keene is a homophobe, pure & simple.
He also presided over another case where a guy inadvertently found himself in possession of stolen property. He held the guy in custody for a while & didn't allow him to bathe or change his underwear. The guy was apparently gay, too because the article talks about the man's "partner" (identified as male) try to bring him new clothes & underwear.
He was also rather light on a guy who tried to kill a bunch of cops with a car. No mention of anyone's sexual orientation but he bought the assailant's "hard life" sob story hook-line-and-sinker!
Maybe the cop he tried to kill was gay, only the Judge knows (maybe the Judge just hates cops for some reason, I don't know).
People need to get this bozo off the bench! The Judge is a psychopath!

He's "only" 67 years old, too, which means he could continue these sentencing travesties for another 15 to 20 years. I have to keep reminding myself he's in the UK....he's just so fucking backwards, he should be in Uganda, not even in the South here.

Apparently he was the judge in several cases about media and privacy and people have questioned his actions, accusing him of using his "monopoly" on media cases to limit the freedom of the media. Particularly he was accused of helping "libel tourism" where celebrities from other countries like USA would come to UK to make their libel case since Eady would use his power to make sure that the celebrity would win. He was also known for forbidding one side from bringin relevant evidence to court if he did not want them to win.

This made me so angry when I first heard about this. Such absolute bullshit. He knew EXACTLY what he was doing, and knew full well the kid would probably die.
