Corporations?

Well, it seems like government-assisted corporate spying.
What is, is not; what is not, is.

Aw, I was hoping the final word in this topic would be 'itself'.
There is light and darkness in the world, to be sure.  However, there's no harm to be had in walking in the shade or shadows.

I think it does that, too.

I want a spying loop, where the US Government spies on itself, and that agency spies on the agency that spies on them and so on and so forth.

The really important thing to consider here is the NSA has purposely damaged the security of the internet. It amazes me how naive and short-sighted that decision is. It's not like other countries, or groups, or individuals are going to find and exploit the backdoors.

I often thought of if the mailman delivers mail to other people then who delivers mail to him? It never occurred to me that he'd deliver mail to himself.

As for this... they're spying on corporations and they purposely put in backdoors for various programs that we use. Like our antivirus. Christ almighty.

Eventually, an NSA agent will end up spying on himself and making some truly disturbing discoveries.

That's already going on. Humans are prone to abusing powers, and many of the NSA workers abused theirs to look up information on current and ex-lovers. It was common enough that they coined the term LOVEINT for it.

So any idea how long Americans are going to tolerate this?

I'm starting to agree with my ex. As long as Americans don't feel inconvenienced and have our shiny toys (facebook is his biggest complaint) most of us will go on with business as usual.

I'd say they aren't, or at least Congress doesn't seem to be. They've been working to reign in the NSA. Companies are pushing the government for allowing them to disclose if the company has received a national security letter. Maybe there will be some success.
