Possibly the most unhinged fundamentalist post I've ever seen
« on: August 11, 2015, 12:15:58 pm »
I used to verbally spar with this woman (until they banned me). That was a while ago.  But she posted this recently:

"Whenever I encounter Satan at work, I tell him out loud to hit the road, in Jesus' name. Having had demonic encounters in our home in the past, I dealt with it by declaring our home a place where Jesus dwells and is welcome, but the works of the enemy are not, and I prayed at that time through my whole house--every room and every closet---declaring it a place for the Lord's glory alone, and I did anoint with oil the door frames of each doorway, including our front door. Then we fasted and prayed for deliverance of the family member so affected, and sent her to a place where she would receive help and deliverance.

We've moved since, and our children are now grown, but we have declared our property, at its very perimeter, as belonging to God and revealing His glory. It is hallowed ground because we belong to God."

Two observations:

1)  Most normal sentences don't begin with the words "Whenever I encounter Satan at work".
2) "sent her to a place where she would receive help and deliverance" is utterly ominous.

3. hallowed ground is not due to the devotion of the landowner, but due to a very strict ritual involving church hierarchy. (otherwise, all would have to be done is to dig divots in the neighbor's yard to declare it holy ground*).

4. i smell mental illness misdiagnosed as fervent religiosity. can you confirm or infirm it?

5. declared the property to whom?

*i'll get my hat.

Can neither confirm nor deny mental illness.  I saw her picture once, she looks like someone you'd see at the grocery store and not think twice about.  Unless she was oiling the produce shelves to keep Satan out of the lettuce.

I wonder how often at parties she's referred to as the lady with the oily doorways.

I would be mad too if I kept finding demons in my house. The worst we get is roaches.

Then again, if all it takes is declaring the house to be hallowed ground, that must at least be cheaper than an exterminator. Plus, protects you from vampires.

Good lord.  So this door anointing, it's actually a THING?  There are far crazier people out there than I thought.  And some of them breed.

The best part about this is the woman who originally posted about it is a 24-karat Catholic hater.  She hates them because of their rituals.  Yeah, go oil your doorway some more.

Nice to meet you, too.

Fundies Say The Darndest Things is pretty much the sister site to this one. I'm a regular there. Granted, you might take issue with the fact that I'm a NeoPagan who sees nothing wrong in anointing in general (I had to get that out of the way). However, I do ridicule her reasons for anointing everything. That woman is a total mess! All frummies are a mess!

Religious fanaticism is disgusting! Fanaticism in general is boneheaded!

The worst thing about that origional post, is that it literally sounds like my mother.
She often says stuff just like that. Thankfully though she never sent me off to "recieve help and deliverance" but she did try sending me to counceling with a pastor.

I have learned that to get by, you just nod your head and agree with her. Its so much easier.
It does get very tiresome sometimes though. hearing about how she felt such an evil presence this and demonic that when she visited such and such place.

I sympathize completely. However, to use against us. Let me ask you a troll. On the one who pulled it. But here's the question: where do I think it might as well have stepped out of all people would cling to a layman.
