If you want to see some video of the incident:

Before the film starts there may have been a struggle with the cop and the deceased over the taser or the officer's gun, if he had gotten shot during the struggle I could have accepted that this was self defense. Shooting him as he ran away, on the other hand is hard to justify... They could have chased him or captured him later. You shoot someone because they are a threat, not because you don't feel like running after them.
The fact that the cop originally lied on his report of how things went is not justifiable by any means and the fact that he moved the taser? to the body, apparently at first trying to make it look like the struggle had been there, or that the victim had been armed is just low.
-
And he would've gotten away with it if it hadn't been for someone with a camera.
Ironbite-DARN THAT PERSON! Let this trend continue.
-
I don't think he's gonna get convicted.
-
Of course not - in the United States, cops are demi-gods, along with "the troops" - they can do no wrong, and they think themselves invincible immortals.
-
Don't be betting on a miscarriage of justice just yet. Dude was fired same day he was charged.
Ironbite-pretty sure the book is getting loaded to be thrown at him.

No possible justification.

No possible justification.
It's perfectly justifiable, according to Darren Wilson and Zimmerman those people are strong enough to take down a grown man, can run at incredible speeds, are capable of being shot at close range and continue attacking, and only desire to kill white people

Maybe we should be giving cops kryptonite instead of guns.
-
Tried that. All the cops kept getting testicular cancer.
-
We might as well just start a general police brutality/murder/manslaughter thread.
Another one, from Oklahoma. Yay body cams.
A 73 year old reserve Deputy, who's a good ole boy BFF with the county Sheriff, got confused...or got blood lusty? His face isn't in the video, but he tased a fleeing black man with his - ooops! - pistol. After the unarmed black man was already on the ground and restrained by a couple big bruiser deputies. After being shot, the man was not offered any medical help by the deputies piled on top of him, just more physical and verbal abuse. He died less than an hour later at the hospital.

All that old deputy deserves is to be dragged to pieces.

Yeah that deputy? He's a volunteer who paid to go on that ride along. Why the fuck he was armed is beyond me.
Ironbite-really hope there's justice in this case but I doubt there will be.
-
The Sheriff said no charges would be filed against Deputy
Fife Bates.
The DA begs to differ.

Bates is charged with second-degree manslaughter "involving culpable negligence," Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler said in a statement.
Thank you for that, at least. The victim was in fact a petty criminal who got caught on hidden camera selling a gun illegally to an undercover cop. But he was unarmed after that, and expressed no threat to anyone during the incident. It looks to me like he also stopped and placed his hands in the "handcuffing" position behind his back just as the body cam deputy tackles him in the video.
-
Oh my god wow.
Ironbite-DA is getting brownie points in the best possible way.
-
No possible justification.
A guy I used to work with linked an article on Facebook that claims that the officer was shot with his own taser. Problem is, even if that's true, he has to prove that the victim was a threat to his life for the entire altercation... which he can't because he was RUNNING AWAY.
-
In the So. Carolina video, you can see the embedded Taser wires trailing behind Walter Scott as he starts to shuffle-run away. Scott was already tired from his original run, and further incapacitated by the Taser. In the cops dash cam video, Scott managed to bolt at a respectable speed for a 50 year old. Fucking cop could've just not fired his weapon and kept Scott in visual range by just walking fast after him. POS.

I wonder if they would be okay with a black guy shooting a cop who tazaered him without just cause?
-
And he's been indicted.

Now let's see if he's convicted.
