Father's Side: Scottish, Irish and British

Mother's Side: Dutch, German and African.

As far as I know anyway.

Mostly Scottish (my last name is Cromarty, which some Scots may find familiar; we've traced my ancestry back to the 17th century at the latest) with a bit of Polish.

French, English, Welsh, Native (Wyandot & Cree), Romani, Jewish, Turkish, Hungarian. And probably some other stuff.

I'm half Japanese, and half "everything under the sun".

The American half of my family contains literally just about everything. Irish, Scottish, Native American, French, distant dashes of African American and various asian bloods... seriously, you name it, it's probably there.

I know there's bits and pieces of other heritage possibly mixed in, but I've always learned that my two dominant ethnicities are Irish (dad's side) and German (mom's side).

My ancestry is Ashkenazi Jewish, which basically means any Eastern European country. I know my father's side is from "Poland" (the part of Poland included in the Pale of Settlement) and my mother's side is from Piotke, a village near Berdychiv in Ukraine, and there's Cossack blood in me from somewhere.... it really is confusing.

Of course, it helps that I can't trace my ancestry farther back than the late nineteenth century, because all the records are gone, and so are my European relatives.

75% German
12.5% Norwegian
2.5% Native American (Some northern tribe near Minnesota or North Dakota)
10% Other/unknown * (Other white stuff)

*I know I might be a little Czech.

I know the history goes kinda like this: A bunch of Germans were offered free land in Russia, so they went there. Well Russia sucked, so they left there and went to the USA. The US gave them free land near Minnesota, North Dakota, etc. They built sod houses, made lefsa, grew potatoes and all that fun stuff.

Mostly German, Volga German (aka Germans from Russia), Czech, and Irish.  Others include English, Polish, and Greek Cypriot.  Maybe some Scottish and Jewish in there.

I'll give you three guesses..... :P

Although about 150 years ago the surname was Irish.  That's the thing about the Scots, we get frickin' everywhere. 8)
