This story reminded me of veggie bacon.

Now, veggie burgers are actually pretty good and reasonably close to the real thing. Same with veggie chicken patties. Not as good as real meat, but certainly at least passable to my taste buds, kind of like the difference between artificial vanilla extract and the real thing.

...but veggie bacon is awful. I already got a bad feeling about it when I saw that it looked like doggy treats (while what was on the box looked like real bacon). It didn't taste any better, but simply not tasting like bacon was the least of it; it tasted awful. The taste seriously made me go look on the box to make extra sure there was no fine print saying "for dogs" or something.

My parents are the ones who buy all this veggie meat. They didn't buy any more veggie bacon.

I can live with, it's not as if I have bacon everyday, I'm lucky if I have it twice a month. That being said, I do love my bacon.

Incidentally, that became my parents' substitute for real bacon. Still not quite the same, but much better.
