Remember the Pepper Spray Cop?

Well the facts are in. It isn't good for the UC Davis police. As it turns out, they were told not to use riot gear by the chief but the lieutenant ignored the orders. They were given warning 2 weeks ahead that the protesters would be there so they new of the potential dangers. And the Pepper spray they used was indeed illegal.

The consultants were unable to find out who authorized the purchase and carrying, but every cop they asked said, "So what? It's just like the Mk-4 except that it has a higher capacity." Uh, no. It's also much, much higher pressure, and specifically designed not to be sprayed directly at any one person, only at crowds, and only from at least six feet away. The manufacturer says so."

Except they don't have privates in the police force (I realize I'm probably killing some sort of joke here). He'd be dropped back to Deputy or simply 'officer' if not fully kicked off the force. It also would not be as big of a drop as it seems to go from Lt to Officer. It would sting, definitely. It takes a while to get there.
