The E3 Thread
« on: June 03, 2012, 04:13:43 pm »
As you probably know, E3 starts tomorrow and goes on until the 7th.

Microsoft, Sony, EA, Ubisoft, and Nintendo have conferences as usual.

Microsoft:  I'm expecting half the conference to be more shitty kinect games as the past two years have shown.

Sony: I'm hoping will show Vita games that I actually WANT to buy.

Nintendo: Whoring it's new console and maybe a Super Smash Bros. trailer?

EA: Probably sports games.

Ubisoft: Assassin's Creed whoring.

Chance of Valve showing up?  Not if it has a 3 at the end of it.

Amusingly, today at 6 Eastern/3 Pacific, Iwata is going to be talking about the Wii U before E3 even has a chance to start.

Those interested can watch it here when the time comes.

Isn't Gravity Rush coming out June 12th? Also, Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack. That is all.
Nintendo: Whoring it's new console and maybe a Super Smash Bros. trailer?

I think it's all but guaranteed Nintendo's going to show off Pikmin 3.

I requested Tues and Wed off to watch it (Actually I requested, Tues, Wed, and Thu, but one boss is on vacation so I only got 2 days).  I preshow starts today so I'm hoping to split early.  Too bad Microsoft is going to be covered in the morning.

I'm watching the stream here: http://www.gametrailers.com/netstorage/e3/live.html

I almost forgot how awful Spike TV is. From what I've seen so far they obviously don't think too highly of their audience.

EDIT: You know dubstep brostep has become a bandwagon fad when TV commercials have started using it.

Nintendo's new Wii U controller:

Looks like a pointy 360 controller...

I think it's best to specify that this is an optional controller, not the Wii U's main controller, which is the tablet-like Game Pad.

Holy shit. An actual controller? I didn't even know they would have one. I haven't been keeping up with the Wii U.

It looks great, too. It's basically a PS3 controller with the button faces swapped.

EDIT: I'm not a huge Halo fan, but didn't Master Chief die at the end of H3? And they're making a H4? Way to milk a franchise, guys. When you say you're making a trilogy, you don't go back on that and make a 4th installment.

Anyways, I'm not rushing out for Halo 4 since Bungie isn't making them anymore.  I'm going to wait and see what people say about it first.

Microsoft has always had the poorest E3 conference for the past 3 years now. Even EA has generally been better.

MicroSoft's presentation: Complete failure.

The only thing that even seemed halfway interesting was the Tomb Raider video.

Well, Smart Glass looks interesting, and totally something that hasn't been done before... not counting a little something called the Wii U, being made by this company called Nintendo. You may have heard of them.. Also, there's a LodgeNet app for the iPhone that allows you to control TVs in hotels like the Ritz Carlton with it, so not even the use of a smartphone is original.

I'm somewhat obsessed with getting gamespot emblems for watching these.  Don't know why.

I know, right? They didn't show a single unique or new thing. All they showed was sequels or ripoffs of the Wii U. It was both hilarious, and kind of pathetic.
