God's love commercial
« on: March 19, 2012, 04:39:17 pm »
Ok, so this commercial has been playing a lot, at least where I live.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apr59nGwHXg" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apr59nGwHXg</a>

I'm surprised it hasn't made it on here yet. Someone in the comments even references the "thank you god" picture with the football player, keys lady, and starving child. The next guy responds with "well the bible says there will allways be starving people". Here's the latest comments at the time of posting.

The last one sums up my reaction pretty well. And why the fuck is a BATTERY COMPANY doing this?
History is full of maniacs, my friend, men and women of intelect, highly perceptive individuals, who's brilliant minds know neither restraint nor taboo. Such notions are the devils we must slay for the edification of pony-kind. Even if said edification means violating the rules of decency, society, and rightousness itself.

...Wut.
Fundie Neighbour: "Pagans don't feel things the same way Christians do."

Me: "Just remember what the Vikings used to do to Christians that annoyed them."

If I didn't make it clear before, this is playing on TV, quite often too. It's not just a video on YouTube.

When I watched this, I thought of Care Bears painting smilies on everyone's souls.

That was pathetic. Depend on a deity that a shitload of people don't even recognize to spread the love and magically fix the world's problems? Yeah, okay.
Guys, this is getting creepy. Can we talk about cannibalism instead?

Ooooooooo… kay! That has what to do with batteries?

Maybe they're charged with God's love? (sorry, that's the only possible connection I can come up with)

Seriously, that is some kinda fucked up right there. I think I lost brain cells watching that...

The Chairman of Interstate Batteries just up and decided to make an ad about God's love.  That's literally the only connection.

Pretty much what Cloudy said.  It's his prerogative.  Personally, I like Interstate Batteries.  Good uns, they are.  Yet to run into a dud.

Okay, but uh, if he just wanted to talk about God’s Love, why throw his company logo onto it, thereby reducing its theological value by turning it into a cheap commercial?

Whereas some of the nicest people I know are atheists. Hmmm
