Title: Is there a way to search by submitter on the FSTDT site? And why no subreddit?
Post by: WarGoatHK417 on April 11, 2014, 09:33:17 pm
Is there some kind of custom Google search that would work? For example,
site:fstdt.com "submitted by: Rabbit of Caerbannog"
I was unsure where exactly to post this.

I wanted to sumbit this (http://www.assatashakur.org/forum/open-forum/57158-does-gay-rights-movement-hurt-our-people.html).

Also:

1. I forgot my password to FSTDT.com, so how do I get back on without creating another account, given that there doesn't appear to be a "Forgot your password?  Enter your email..." -type option.

2. Having an FSTDT subreddit would be so freaking awesome compared to the main site!  The only subreddit that comes close is reddit.com/r/TumblrInAction.  /r/ShitRedditSays are fundies themselves. of the take-offense-at-the-inoffensive variety.  I'm guessing there's reasons why, I don't necessarily agree with them but I'd like to hear them.  Presumably they are of a community-issues nature.

Then again, I strongly disagree with disconnecting this forum and the awesome community (http://christiannightmarestoo.tumblr.com/post/44524785267/an-online-group-helps-a-young-gay-man-escape-from) from FSTDT.com, despite drama being problematic, because switching to an unattractive interface and disconnecting from the one thing that caused the community to exist seems like a great way to make the community wither away and die.  Am I mistaken on this?

I agree, a subreddit would be nice.

I know, right?  One issue would be getting taken over by people from SRS.  What we need, then, is a way to custom search the subreddit by fundie (search by submitter is already a function).  Maybe have the fundie as a flair (the problem with this is variant spellings: Dr. David Duke, and David Duke are different flairs)?  The cool thing about that is that we could link to the latest submissions about Vox Day or Dr Doom in the sidebars.

When that happened to /r/lgbt, a whole lot of LGBT redditors were banned from the subreddit being "homophobic."  This is basically the entire reason why /r/ainbow exists.

We should link to Rapture Ready, Free Conservatives, and Occidental Dissent as great sources of quotes.  Especially Rapture Ready.
Stormfront and Assata Shakur Forums would also be good, but not nearly as much of a goldmine.

Some kind of admonition about linking to not-serious/troll sites should be in the comments.  Things get complicated here when Poe's Law is taken into consideration, but 4chan's /pol/ may not be a good quote source.

The last thing I want on this forum is an influx of Reddit users, honestly. And I am talking about those greedy misogynistic Objectivist assholes from r/atheism.

1. Any links with greed and misogyny (particularly ones that show that it's mainstream, not a vocal minority)?

2. FSTDT.com links to Pharyngula and FreeThoughtBlogs, and it's not like they don't have their share of greedy assholes (http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Atheism_Plus).  r/atheism has been hemorrhaging members (http://redditmetrics.com/r/atheism) because it's become kind of a circlejerk, but I would be more concerned about r/shitredditsays, who are well-known griefers (http://i.imgur.com/Q13jZiX.jpg) originally from the Something Awful forums.

3. Word on the street is that center-left Redditors form the largest group (case in point: r/politics).  Objectivists have their own own subreddit (http://reddit.com/r/objectivism).  Presumably, they mostly stick to that and related subreddits (r/libertarianmemes, r/declinetostate and a bunch of other shit I subscribe to but never read).

I'm waiting until you've figured out that we're not really associated with FSTDT anymore and are kinda our own thing.
