Given that child molesters are considered less than scum by even the worst mass murderers in prison I very much doubt he will be lying back and remembering his "good times". I also strongly doubt that his cute little philosophy will hold up to the soul crushing horror that is prison incarceration. Regardless of protective custody and even a somehow magical elimination of prison violence and rape, prisons are messed up places to be. Those four small walls will in time creep in on him, the lack of any kind of freedom will gnaw at his memories of life outside. Those razor wire fences will make him forget that a world beyond them exists and the people around him will make him incapable of even remembering what a child looks like.
He may be trying to get the last word in, but he will spend the remainder of his life in one of the worst hell holes in the world. The more the state protects him, the longer that torture is carried on for, and when they slip up, he will face horrible brutalization. Eventually he will die, probably many years from now, never knowing any kind of happiness ever again.
Killing someone like this is too good for him, he will rot, in a small little room with nothing more than his slowly degrading memories. Let him try and have the last laugh, for he does not truly know what he has to look forward to. memories alone will not save you when your life is nothing but an ugly bad of mostly water in a small cell.
