54 here, another November birthday (3rd). I was born the day that the USSR sent a dog into space. Luckily, my parents didn't name me after her!
I am living proof of the adage posted by Stick Boy, that if you haven't grown up by the age of 50, you don't have to!
I dress up as a pirate on Fridays, my wheelchair is covered in pirate stickers and toys (with cutlasses in the wheels) and my walking sticks have hobby-horse heads on them. I play Pokémon (and have done since Red and Blue came out) and other GameBoy and DS games.
I try to find a way of getting enjoyment out of something every day.
As Elwood P. Dowd puts it:
"Well, I've wrestled with reality for 35 years, Doctor, and I'm happy to state I finally won out over it."
"I always have a wonderful time, wherever I am, whomever I'm with."
"Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me."
